Introducing Fate: A brand new label from Hungary’s finest drum & bass export Chris.SU.

Having destroyed floors for years with his gritty grooves on labels such as Subtitles, Commercial suicide, Bad Taste and Spearhead, he’s decided to take fate into his own hands… Literally.

Launching with a precision statement of intent, this release carefully balances consistency with variety. Showcasing the label’s remit while reminding us just how sharp he is in the studio, across two tracks Chris.SU has created a special vibe that hints at a very promising future for Fate… And he’s done so with two old sonic compatriots – Mira and State Of Mind.

Following their critically acclaimed work together on last year’s ‘Higher’, ‘Together In The Night’ sees Chris recruit the stunning vocals of Mira once again. Armed with complementary styles, Chris’s undulating waves of subtle bass fluctuate beneath Mira’s emphatic, emotionally rich delivery. Heightened further by shimmering, arpeggios and star-gazing synths, it’s a quintessential dreamy dynamic. Expect nothing but hugs, blissed out faces and perhaps a few smooches on your floor when you drop this… Pure rolling romance.

‘The Burning’ ensures we’re not too caught up in the emotional side of the dance: a tag-team with old New Zealand friends State Of Mind, it’s a crisp, techy message of menace. After an opening salvo of icy, cosmic synths and spine-shuddering prayer calls we’re thrown head first into the gnarly bass drop that rifles its way along with turbo-charged tenacity, switching into longer drone flexes on the fills for added excitement. The breakdown strips back the elements succinctly to just one powerful synth, giving the second drop even more impact. Make no mistakes, this is pure nocturnal naughtiness.

MINDSCAPE brings his unique and fierce take on d&b back to his home label with REANIMATOR CHAPTER ONE on EATBRAIN, the first part of a series of 3 EPs, that culminate in the REANIMATOR LP. As one of the imprint’s most recognisable figureheads, Mindscape deftly demonstrates why that’s the case with the 4 tracks within delivering distinct and succinctly powerful ideas to the table. MANBEARPIG carries a swagger dripping with pure and deliberately paced attitude, whilst SHUT DOWN (feat. COPPA) rides on a fast-moving bassline and percussive flurry. Focusfire is the brainchild of Ignescent label owner Deen Pride and the talent of musician Fascad, a producer who’s already littered several imprints with his refined sounds, including Ram’s sisterlabel Program. However now they bring together their incredible skills individually as a collective, adding their music to the massive platform of Deen Pride’s Ignescent. The Russian imprint has proven its weight time and time again, continuing to do so with the four track EP which has been offered up by Focusfire. With Deen’s high-energy DJ sets helping to inject the live presence needed into the project, as well as Fascad’s expert craftmanship in the studio, they prove with their forthcoming EP that they’re a force to be reckoned with. The ‘Resolution’ EP will stand as a monumental part of their catalogue and it signals a blossoming career together as a duo.

The first track you’re introduced to from the EP is its title, ‘Resolution’. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Focusfire record, unforgiving, meticulously built and with the type of slicing drums which drill through speaker stacks at any drum & bass night. ‘Akoazm’ follows next and its tightly fashioned grooves jump in and out of the mix, helped given more presence by its weighty kicks and blurts of atmospherics.

‘Spacelab’ is a fully immersive part of the track list, pulling you into the fray before it pushes you through its first breakdown, padded out by its melodic relays. As the horns kick in and you’re taken into a climatic drop, Focusfire step on the gas. ‘Basic Shapes’ finishes the collection and its just as progressive as its counterparts, with rolling bass notes adding a jagged edge to the cut as it kicks you into each frenzied patch of breaks.

Focusfire show you what they’re about with this next release and in doing so, they give you an insight into what they have in store for 2020. With Ignescent as a home, they’re sure to take tech-drum & bass to the next level.
