2014 was a big year for Scott Moncrieff AKA thatmanmonkz. Not only did his own label Shadeleaf become firmly established he dropped brilliantly received releases on both Kolour LTD and here on D.O.G.
Scott has managed to tread that fine line of simultaneously picking up props from all angles and wrecking dancefloors the world over whilst remaining resolutely underground and focused on the more interesting corners of dance music. RA rightly stated that ‘Despite the pivotal part his hometown has played in electronic music history, you can't shake the feeling that if this were the work of some auteur from Detroit, Thatmanmonkz would receive wider recognition from the house community.’ And that is why we love him!
Here on his follow up to last years Don’t Slip EP, he delivers 3 lo-fi, dusty, soul- tinged nuggets which have that unique yet instantly identifiable character only the most talented producers are capable of making. Opener In The Trees featuring the vocals of Kahill Anthony who adds a soulful touch to the raw, bumping groove set up by monkz. The kind of magic track that’ll get lodged in your mind and have the heads clamoring for the info when dropped on a big system. Flip over for Make It Now which treads a more familiar loopy disco path but does so in such fine style that you’ll be coming back to this one time and time again. Finally we have Sad n Blue which drops the deepness with fizzing Detroit padz and killer vox samples giving a nod to the moody one but with a throbbing bassline straight out of the nu school. thatmanmonkz is currently holed up in his studio making tracks for his debut LP which we’re happy to announce will be dropping towards the end of this year here on Delusions.

Timewarp inc returns with his third full length album “Ghetto Drunk”, after a long period (over four years ago) since the previous successful album “Groovy Booty” back in 2008. The story of modern nufunk, broken beats, nu disco, nujazz and dub, all mixed up together, that's Timewarp's sound signature, continues with new material that will give you a true experience between contemporary music to dance electronica, for maximum listening pleasure, not only for clubs and bars but also for your lounge sofa.

The album contains sixteen tracks with some interesting great collaborations, with the Dutch vocalist Tonkin on the self titled and intoxicated Ghetto Drunk song, The Time Travellas from Belgium appears on Hipsko with live rhymes recorded with realtime fx, and the multi instrumentalist French artist Leon on Disco Frisco.

In the tracks Kotzak, Yuil Disco Breaks and Hot Spot you can hear the participated musicians: Salomi Vasiliadou (Vocals), Tasos Fotiou (Sax, Flute), Lusty Apricot (Violin on Kotzak), Kimon Pandelides (Guitar on Dubwizejah, Hot Spot, Kotzak), StelX (Guitar on Start With An A), Stoney The Flute (Flute on Chase in the Case), Kostas Kopanaris (Percussions on Kotzak) Dj KomMit (Scratches on Kotzak, Start With An A).

Following the release of their acclaimed debut album The Vision, Ben Westbeech and Kon unveil a sublimely arranged remix package of one of the standout cuts from the LP, ‘Down’ featuring Detroit soul trio Dames Brown. Opening with The Vision’s blissful original, with its warm percussion and string-drenched interludes, ‘Down’ highlights the soul and funk leaning side of The Vision’s sound. Snatch! label boss Riva Starr delivers his house roller of a mix next, taking a more dancefloor-focussed approach with filtered bass wobbles and irresistible loops, while maintaining the vitality of ‘Down’ that makes it special. Closing out the release is 45 Queen Natasha Diggs, who delivers a hazy, deeply groovy version of the record, richly instrumented with long, expressive keys and rhythmic percussion. This is yet another exquisite package from The Vision camp begging to be heard on the dancefloor.
