Ewan Pearson can do no wrong, can he? For the best part of twenty years now, the DJ, producer, writer, and academic's been recording, releasing, remixing, and playing the kind of sensate focused house that feels like the sweatiest, most loved-up high you've ever had from a best mate at sunrise, which is why he's a firm favourite here at THUMP UK. We even considered erecting a monument to him in the middle of the office by the HR team didn't seem happy about the prospect, so we stuck to sticking photos of him all over our desk. Which makes us look like either the massive fans we are, or deranged psychopaths planning an assassination.

Just for clarity, we're the former, and that's why we're so excited to be letting you listen to Pearson's typically sublime remix of "Sleep Stream" by Berlin duo Languages.

The EP that the track's taken from, which arrives on Days of Being Wild on the 2nd of December, is the pair's debut, and it's a very strong start. Pearson's floaty and fluttering, agile and fragile, sultry and sensual remix is one of the most pleasurable refixes we've heard all year and if you're not charmed by it's lilting cosmic disco charms then, well, there's no hope for you.

Failsafe is a new label created by, and primarily for the release of, material by Juxta Position, who’s output was previously featured on Rhythm Nation, and on DVS1’s Mistress Recordings imprint. 

Juxta Position first came to the attention of the electronic music world in 2013, with the release of “Juxta Position Vol 1” on Mistress. This debut release contained the widely popular track “Mercy”, which was featured on Midland’s RA Mix, licenced to Deetron’s fabric 76 DJ mix release, and found it’s way into the crates of many different DJs across the spectrum of house and techno.

Inaugurating the first Failsafe release, Juxta Position delivers two slices of upfront hypnotic techno, custom made for cutting edge DJs to provide maximum dancefloor damage.

Puisque l'afrobeat se cuisine partout et absolument à toutes la sauces, des musiciens et Djs se sont emparés de ladite chanson. Démarche intuitive et chapardeuse.L'Allemand Henrik Schwarz, qui avait déjà effectué un remix par le passé pour le duo malien (« Je pense à toi »), gorge le morceau de deep-house. Parce que c'est toujours un plaisir de se mouvoir au soleil, Africaine 808 – duo composé des producteurs allemands Dirk Leyers et Hans Reuschl - joue les ingénieux funambules futuristes. Plus loin, Lully livre une percée davantage nonchalante et urbaine et Fatima Yamaha, pseudo féminin dans lequel se cache le facétieux néerlandais aux multiples visages Bas Baron, emmène « Bofou Safou » dans des contrées funky obsédantes. Quant à Vasco, fidèle à son approche sexy et indolente, il impose une sorte de transe cathartique. Se glisse enfin sur cet EP, avant la sortie à la rentrée de l'album « La Confusion », un second titre original « Filaou Bessame ». The follow-up to 2015’s ‘Bahdeni Nami,’ ‘To Syria, With Love’ marks Souleyman’s third full-length studio record. It’s a departure musically and lyrically from his previous material, with focus on more elaborate keyboard and techno elements. Completely setting politics aside, Souleyman consciously shares this personal ode to his native country with an emphasis on his emotional connection to the land and people but not without heartache in view of the nation’s current state.

Steadfast in the studio working on the new album for Autumn 2017, here's another hint at what's been going on in the world of Nickodemus' latest creations & collaborations. "Mystic Molay" features Hassan Ben Jaafe, a Maâlem, or master Gnawa musician & his group Innov Gnawa. The song's lyrics reference & welcome the ancient Sufi mystic teacher Molay Abdelkader Jilani (Morrocan spelling) or Abd al-Qadir Gilani (Iraq/ Persian spelling). Recording the vocals & hajhuj (or gimbri), metal qarqaba (castanets) & the kouyos (chorus) & topping it all off with melodies on whirlitzer & violins, Nickodemus brings back that old school analog funk grooves known on his earlier albums collaborating with live musicians. In the spirit of club culture, Nickodemus solicited the remix talents of Aroop Roy who dropped a modern broken beat house version as well as Umoja's stripped down Cumbia meets Gnawa version for the dance-floor. Set to be released June 2 & the full album for October 2017.
