We're showcasing a track off the fourth 'Delphæ' album soon released on @delajelespere, carefully curated by Camille a.k.a. @fatalefurylax. She sent this through a few weeks back, and we've been playing this back a good few times! 

@ekaliff is a dynamic Malmö-based artist excelling in production, drumming, and DJing, whose influential work spans multiple cities and radio stations, including international debuts and significant contributions to the southern Sweden dubstep scene.

@sub-basics's EP Cause & Effect will be Bait's first ever vinyl release. He's a key UK figure in the deep dubstep scene who has had big support for his tunes on the likes of Lion Charge, Foundation Audio and Juan Forte from Ben U.F.O. and Kia. First up he links with Toura for the liquid rhythms of 'Cause' while 'Effect' gets more prickly with a ticking lead synth and deep underwater dub vibes. 'Call' brings some deft melody and more trance-inducing grooves while closer 'Response' is a nice and punchy dub techno cut with ice-cold hi-hats.

Beatrice M.'s Bait invites Trois-Quarts Taxi System back into the fold for both the artist’s and label’s debut album release, ‘Plexus’. Leaning into innovative 140 mutations, Trois-Quarts Taxi System dedicates his first long-format release to exploring the depth of this space and stepping away from his usual 170/80 sound. A deep meditative journey of introspection.

Taking the name ‘Plexus’ from a key he found in the street, the album is split into various parts with the heart of album comprised of three parts of ‘Plexus’ - drone-like soundscapes which retrace different states using a variety of acoustic and electronic sounds combined with samples from an anonymous cassette found in the street. This hybridisation of sound is often influenced by ideas Trois-Quarts Taxi System comes across whilst working on his live shows; an artistic practice that is very important to his output. On this occasion, Trois-Quarts Taxi System has used this extended period to explore the bridge between dubstep, techno and experimental, pieced together with quiet ambient moments.

Building on the success of Procedures, his label debut, Mercy System, returns to Of Paradise with Othering, a momentous, street-savvy collection of sub-heavy and sleekly futuristic bass music custom-built for the more discerning dance floors out there. Featuring three original tracks and one inimitable and whacked-out remix by rising Nottingham talent Coralie, Othering demonstrates the clear-cut evolution of Mercy System's style, showcasing his ability to redefine the UK’s underground sound with each new release.

Dynamic in scope, Othering is a headstrong collection of contorted, lights-down dance music and sinuous atmospherics, and another standout release for artist and label alike.

After 15 years in the game, with over 60+ vinyl records pressed, including several "001s", I am very excited to finally be launching my own thing (better late than never hey).

001 - Pugilist - Monument

The concept for Ruff Kutz as an idea came about last year after doing the 3 releases exclusive to Bandcamp as an outlet for my own productions that didn't get picked up by labels. Lots of people messaged me about vinyl. including a big push from dear friend and musical luminary Stormn Norm aka Mr Modern Hypnosis. He put me in touch with Sequence Distribution and they have been amazing to work with - helping me get this off the ground quickly!

The label will be the main outlet for most of my productions going forward - focussing on quality over quantity and with no set rules for a particular sound or tempo: expect the unexpected! The first release encompasses what I think is my sound, and is a nod to my musical past whilst aiming to remain fresh and create timeless music.

Techno influence has always been something I have tried to incorporate into my productions, but I have never released a full Techno track - until now! The A side track 'Monument' is a rolling piece of soulful machine music, made to induce euphoria on the dancefloor with its 10 min run time, Dubby chords, groovy Latin percussion and melancholic pads. Homage to a lot of the 90s and early noughties Techno sounds that I am so fond of!

I couldn't think of doing the first release on the label without at least 1 Dubstep track on it, and given it's the genre I cut my teeth in - I did 2 inna pug-step style. Deep and dubbed out. B1 'Mannequin' is an introspective half-stepper with a laid back, techy feel to it. The staccato sub bass keeps the track grooving under the delicate chords and is sure to get the scoops moving!

On the B2 we have 'Run It' a hazy 2-step style tune (so hot right now) with forward thinking production, an off kilter groove, hypnotic bass and a few classy wubs thrown in for good measure. Think Horsepower Productions meets Livity Sound. Stinky!
