His name comes from the troubled upbringing and depression he experienced growing up and seeing how that's transformed his perspective on life when finally finding himself and his identity he noticed that in his 22 years of living, his growing up experience felt like A Year Exiting Rain (A.Y.E.R.).

His sound has been described as "Killer beats and songs that take you on an emotional roller coaster. A dynamic offering of powerful vocals and at times delicate and vulnerable."; "Catchy, Ethereal and Moving"; and "Powerful, honest and raw. Real music with meaning and movement. Totally ultra dynamic music for thought.".

He has been thought to have his sound compared to the likes of Radiohead, MUSE, P!nk, Tokio Hotel, Daft Punk, Kavinsky, NoMBe, TwoFeet, Eskimoe Joe and Hoobastank.
