Plafond continues, taking center stage after the mother label BAKK ceded. Here, two long-time collaborators, Ekolali, originating from Sweden, and Tala Drum Corps, from the Netherlands, await their returns. The former reappears with a characteristic approach earlier heard on 'Doggerland'. The latter did multiple dance releases yet now debuts for this series, expanding on his stylistic spectrum. 

Despite shared tempo, the energies of the track are each of their own. Pulsating with energetic urgency, Ekolali, towards hypnotic movement, Tala Drum Corps. 'Totem Mollusca' shoots for the sun, like a budding landscape, yellow rays, waterdrops – kraut-inspired yet club-like without seeking a climax. 'tokyo subway' has a marimba-ridden, timeless feel – a clock-ticking, crude atmosphere, as a dream long passed, slowly ascending. 

Known for its two-sided, two-songs format, Plafond offers two artists or artist combinations the freeform room for exploration and elongation of their respective sound and practices. This is the eighth in the series.

A true wtf acid beast, "Decode" bangs traditionally and levels the place. B Side "Sea Mojo" takes the sharp drums and filtered moves somewhere jumpy and PlayStation-tech'd, with a nice bubble. Radically shapeshifting and surrealist, as spinning sonic prisms taunting the ears, ‘Cercle Vicieux’ and ‘Cercle Vertueux’ channel Fluxus artistry, straying past jazz-licked drones, avalanching low end and blood red scatting. Scenes both condescending and anxious —  this release is carried by its interwoven conflicts, where strange attractors reveal knots at each listen.

The fifth Plafond is a special joint project tying the synchronicity of two contemporary minds. Both Zoë Mc Pherson and Rupert Clervaux are known to actively transgress art forms, reconstituting production methods through respective audiovisual and literary pursuits. The listener is relocated in their musical interzone, bordered by avant-garde experimentalism on one side, and bass-heavy club mutations on the other. This ambiguation lays out a gateway, one through which modern producers can re-adopt the revolutionary energy of those who unraveled conventions on music and sound in the first place — a ‘Cercle Vertueux’, indeed.

Comes in a hand printed sleeve with multiple tints grey and silver, including an Obi-strip, by the BAKK Interzone Alcazar.

SONIC RESISTANCE. A Compilation For Rojava out on 10th feb via @oramicspl and @kashev-tapes
I participated with a track based on a session from 2017 with my friend @gernas_maao , talented Daf player. He grew up in the Syrian region of Kurdistan and we jammed in Brussels.
In 2016 we at @femalepressure_official released a first compilation “ Music, Awareness & Solidarity w/ Rojava Revolution” in support to the women of Rojava to build a women's village on location called The Village Project.
Today with this amazing 90 tracks compilation, all proceeds from the digital sales will be sent directly to the ‘Foundation of the Free Woman in Rojava‘ (Weqfa Jina Azad A Rojava) which is one of the last women’s organization in the area.

I feel so much anger on how fucked up all of this is, this track embodies fully the soul of this feeling.

Ishtar is an ancient Mesopotamian goddess associated with sex, war, justice, and political power

Plafond enters its second decade with Cucina Povera and Haron fusing the folkloric and futurist. Maria Rossi and Haron Aumaj (real names) honour musical cinematism on ‘Riffittelyä’, which slowly unfolds during a twenty-two minute trail of exploration, angst and redemption. Meddling voices pinch through an aural mist, Kubrickesque strings impend and cathedral organs relevate. Most striking is the compatibility of Rossi’s tangibility and Aumaj’s computerisation, seamlessly forming a renewed dynamic, as granular as it is loose in texture.

During this unique first collaboration it can be quickly forgotten both artists have highly distinctive styles. We are reminded of these singularities on the other half of the record, featuring two solo works, both rich yet contrasting in their colour and emotion. On ‘Maandag, Spiegeldag’, Aumaj sketches in orange chromatics, a featherweight composition that feels far away from the greyscale fragility that Rossi portrays on ‘Ajatus’. Showcasing two minimalist artists catapulted by their stunning debut albums, this sixth Plafond keeps the listener in constant awe, pointing us to the endless potential of spontaneity.

Comes in Pantone printed outer sleeve with deep red and yellow topped with a silk screened black and a soft pink inner sleeve, wrapped in a dreamy blue Obi-strip printed with white and black, by the BAKK Fuzz Factory.
