José Padilla, Spanish DJ and producer sadly passed away on 18th October this year. A true loss for the Balearic scene and music as a whole. He took over DJ residency at Cafe del Mar in Ibiza in 1991 and compiled the first Cafe del Mar album for the React label in 1994. Listening to that album for the first time changed everything onwards for me. Unbiased, unsnobbish, non-genre specific music that encapsulated a moment. A shared experience. A sunset. A community of like-minded people. A gathering. The legacy of Cafe del Mar, cannot be replicated. It'll never happen again. 

It wouldn't have felt right to have a show that plays with the question of what Balearic music is and what it isn't without tipping our caps and paying tribute to such a legend. I've kept this tribute mix to an hour, but seriously, it could have been three without trying. 

The last track is a remix José created for The Korvids, of their track, Beachcoma. I was fortunate enough to also share my remix duties along with José on this track. Something that I am incredibly humbled and proud to have been a part of. As far as I know, it was his last remix. 

RIP Sir. And thank you. The sunset won't be the same.
