RADIO ELECTRONICA was one of the first independent radio programmes to go on air in Jena in 1999. The background was to bring colour into the dreary Thuringian radio programme and to create a platform where regional and national artists from the electronic music scene could present themselves and exchange ideas. RADIO ELECTRONICA claims to be always on the trail of new influences, trends and artists in the field of electronic music.

The show quickly developed from the first pre-productions to a live broadcast, which can be heard every four weeks on Saturdays from 7pm to midnight on the open channel Jena on UKW 103.4 Mhz and via online stream (https://radio-okj.de/wp-content/themes/radiookj/okj-player.html).

With a steadily growing fan base, RADIO ELECTRONICA is still a firm institution in the field of electronic music in Jena and beyond the city limits. Besides the latest scene trends and record presentations, studio guests are a big part of the show.

Wilson Frisk hails from Bradford, Yorkshire in the north of England. Like many other Dj's Wilson started his musical journey collecting music as a young teenager doing compilations for his friends. In 1994 Wilson started a music fanzine called 'Jackyard Backoff' with his late friend Chris Stephenson which covered the music scene in the north of England. Around 1995 Wilson became involved with a very successful club night called 'Spice' which was his first stint at Dj'ing playing Broken Beat, Acid Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul and jazz......Wilson has now firmly established himself in the House/Disco scene holding down residencies in Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield and been involved with infamous club nights such as Back2Funky, Uno House, Our House, Afro Coalition, Way2Funky, Wallop, GYGO and The House Of Phunk. Currently Wilson is one of the Boombox  Stereo residents who play at the mighty BeatHearder Festival and part of the 4Playdjs Collective who play at the Solfest Festival in Cumbria. International House DJ, Producer, Radio personality, Tastemaker and label boss just about sums up DJ Pioneer. A DJ since the age of 17, Pioneer’s passion for music hasn’t changed one bit as his career becomes more successful. His unique mixing ability and handpicked selection is renowned for providing an electric vibe for clubbers and radio listeners across the World. 

Originally influenced by the sound system culture and then jungle music, Pioneer started collecting vinyl whilst at school before he owned a pair of decks. He is no stranger to House and Garage music. Up until 2008, Pioneer had played on several giant Pirate Radio stations including Pure Magic, London Underground, Y2K and Déjà Vu FM. Playing at legendary events such as Pure Silk, Exposure, Sun City and Pure Old Skool to name a few. Pioneer also worked at the ‘Wired for Sound’ record store in his hometown Hackney from 2001 until its closure in 2009. This helped him to understand and appreciate other genres of music more and inspire his taste for new sounds. 

Amongst others, Pioneer was responsible for bringing a new genre to the streets in 2006. UK Funky was emerging, influenced by the Soulful, Funky House and broken beats that Pioneer was playing at the time. His hard work and ever popular club sets and had not gone unnoticed and in 2008, Pioneer progressed to legal radio and joined Kiss FM. In 2009, Ministry of Sound released the compilation ‘The Sound of UK Funky’ mixed by DJ Pioneer. Pioneer featured tracks from Robin S, Ultra Nate, Crazy Cousinz and more. This received great feedback and allowed Pioneer to feature some of the tracks he was responsible for breaking into the scene. In 2010, Pioneer began producing and made his debut with a Funky House track titled ‘Stronger’ featuring Egypt which received great support from the underground, mainstream radio and Sky TV and was also performed at the London Fashion Week.  

Pioneer is now into his 7th year on the UK’s leading dance radio station, Kiss FM. In this, time, he’s championed and played tracks which have eventually progressed onto commercial radio playlists with acts such as MK, Rudimental, Dennis Ferrer, Roska, Donaeo, Kenny Dope, Black Coffee and more recently the chart topping Storm Queen

Pioneer launched his record label in 2012, SOTU (Sounds Of The Underground) Recordings. With 12 releases to date and loads in the pipeline, the label is already proving to be success as it represents the sound of the UK club scene genres from Underground House to Bass and is home to some of the finest up and coming producers. DJ Pioneer has also remixed tracks for world famous Universal Records and has also had one of his remixes signed by Puma for their Cobra Golf advertising campaign and the ‘Cobra Golf Orange Out’ iPhone app. Pioneer’s latest single ‘Circles’ stayed at no1 in the Maltese PRS charts for 3 weeks in November 2014.

Pioneer continues to headline countless clubs up and down UK and also plays at major festivals such as HD (High Definition) and made his debut at the Isle Of Wight Festival in 2014 where he played to over 75000 people on the main stage.

Internationally, Pioneer plays regularly in Ibiza, Amsterdam, Dubai, Barcelona, Marbella, Egypt, Ayia Napa, Faliraki, Kos, Kavos, Jamaica, Mallorca, The Gambia and Northern Cyprus.

Worship Recordings was established in the summer of 1998 in Philadelphia by Rob Paine. The concept was simple at first: they just wanted to put out their own music their own way. After the first few releases it became clear that they had dropped in on a genre of house music that has slowly but surely come to fruition, now being labeled by the massive as "dub house". They knew they were not the first to use the influence of Jamaican reggae music as a foundation for their house productions, but they definitely wanted to continue to push it to new heights in both the house community and progressive reggae scene. 

What started out as an in-house production label, Worship soon started to sign like- minded artists such as: Garth, Chris Udoh, Pete Moss, Solomonic Sound, Hakan Lidbo, Jay Tripwire and Grant Dell- just to name a few. Some Worship releases are more dub than house and vice versa - but all releases are pure quality. From the music’s production quality to the legendary KLH art work and right down to the packaging, Worship Recordings is never slacking. They continue to explore new methods of using reggae and house music side by side to reach lovers of both sounds and to unite them in the dance hall as ONE.
