Next up, we welcome Simos Tagias to the label with the 'Mantis EP'. 

A prolific producer, Simos Tagias has released with everyone from FSOE and UV to Replug and Mango Alley. Based in northern Greece, he made his breakthrough with Lynx Records a decade ago, and has gone on to create an enviable back catalogue with support across the progressive scene from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Cid Inc.  and more. 

Opening with lead track, 'Mantis', we are quickly swept up in Simos' epic soundscape. Dirty bass and gunshot stabs playfully work against shakers and sidechained pads growing the tension over time. Midway, new synthlines add meat to the bones of this chunky groover before the main break cools things off a touch. 

'Daydreamer' begins apace with gated bass and eerie atmospheres. Dark and moody, the sound design creates powerful mental images as the tracks takes hold. Closing the EP, the tribal rhythms of 'Breath' feel extra funky. Synth washes and sparse percussion give the track acres of space to breathe(!) creating a light breezy vibe. Solid work from one of the scene's unsung heroes.

Summer is ushered in by the debut of Spanish artist Luis Damora.

Launching his career at the turn of the century, he quickly became famous for his DJing skills as a resident at Madrid hotspots Circus, Pasapoga and more. After living in the UK and US, Luis returned home with new ambition and began releasing music on a number of influential labels including Suara, Toolroom and Armada. ​

Opening the EP with 'Echoes of Love', bongo grooves and delicate pads make way for triplet bass and wild reverbed sweeps. Warm and inviting, the track builds up a head of steam mid way with new melodics and bass layers adding depth and interest. The main break is an oasis of calm before the groove consumes you for the second half. ​

'How Can I Believe' follows with percussive melancholia. Deep and emotional, the track takes its time to level up with a rolling bass and spiky stab undercurrent. Sonics and icy sweeps keep interest high as the bass does its work on the floor.

The latest edition of our free download series finds Ezequiel Arias returning for his second appearance. Hailing from Cordoba, the Argentinean artist has grown into one of his country’s most prodigious progressive house talents. Upon making his debut in 2013, Ezequiel became a favourite of both Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Subsequent releases on Plattenbank, Replug, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden followed shortly thereafter and cemented the Argentine’s place amongst the progressive house elite. Ezequiel made his debut on our free download series with the well received ‘2AM’. Written in conjunction with fellow countryman and Sudbeat artists Interaxxis the track featured heavily in the sets of progressive house tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Sahar Z. Now returning for his second appearance Ezequiel unveils his much sought after ‘Private’ remix of Michael A’s ‘Ciklus One’. Originally released on Proton, Ezequiel’s interpretation has been shrouded in mystery after being aired in Hernan’s sets for the better part of a year. Now after much demand the track is finally available as an exclusive free download. We hope you enjoy it.

It took no less than 15 years of DJ’ing before Sandeep finally found his way to the studio, resulting in a remix for, and several collaborations with, die Stube Records founder Hollt. Sandeep’s long, deep, progressive and atmospheric sets have paved the way for his first ever solo EP, ‘The Deeper Dreamer’.

The EP kicks off with the story-telling ‘The Deeper Dreamer’, built on a solid foundation of drums, a slightly filtered kick and several dreamy synths and pads. With the delicate and dreamy original fitting for those longer sets in dark basement clubs, Hollt’s reinterpretation has a slightly coarse sound in comparison, yet making it a day-dreamy track for those hazy afternoons.

For Whom The Bells Toll is special collaboration between Sandeep and Australian based cellist Wilma. After having met online, the two artists worked together on this slightly melancholic, deep house an neo-classical music cross-over gem. Listening to the original during the night, the acoustic version will suit any Sunday morning.

Next up on Sudbeat the return of the uprising star Ezequiel Arias with his second full release after an incredible debut EP that’s still one of the best seller on the label.
Ezequiel has also been featured on “El Maestro” Hernan Cattaneo’s recent Balance mix album. In keeping with that theme, the B side track ‘Rotator’ comes with a bonus day mix version.

Title track ‘Globular’ leads the way though. From the bedrock of solid kick and percussion comes a glorious, musical melodies, ethereal pads and a rubbery bassline that adds bags of soul. ‘Rotator’ in original form is a vibrant, upbeat affair. Galloping bass adds forward momentum from the first bar, which is soon joined by sweeps, FX and killer hook in the break. The day mix of ‘Rotator’ begins in ambience. Broken beats usher in pads and percussive layers slowly as the track builds up to its ethereal climax.

In celebration of Replug’s ten year anniversary Cid Inc & Orsen present their debut collaboration alongside remixes from Nick Muir and Barry Jamieson. Founded in 2009 by Finnish artist and DJ Henri Hurtig aka Cid Inc., Replug has carefully forged a path to progressive music excellence. Through releasing much of Henri’s most sought after material to the genre’s freshest artists, the label has continued to flourish and forever has it’s finger on the pulse of the movement. Having already released his ‘Look Twice’ EP in March of 2015, it was January of 2016 which saw UK born, Austria based artist Dan Baseley aka Orsen take over the label’s managerial duties. A key moment in Replug's journey, as Cid Inc’s tour schedule and mastering service had left him less time to focus on the label. Moving forward the duo proved to be a great team, with Replug furthering itself as a premiere destination for progressive music’s most sought after talent. Now in what has been a remarkable decade long journey, it seems only appropriate that Cid Inc and Orsen unite to commemorate the occasion with the aptly titled ‘Ten’. 

From the opening bars of ‘Ten’ you get an immediate sense of how strong the creative synergy is between Cid Inc and Orsen. Powerful and inviting, it’s warm foundation is full of contour and character, while a buzzing tone and rugged design build tension as the narrative takes shape. Hitting early, a short break serves to introduce an astral arp, playing off the rhythmic elements and adding further cadence to already swing heavy groove. Spanning over a minute in length, it is the second and final break which provides a unique contrast of emotion and drama. As modulation reaches a feverous peak, impassioned chord changes offset the metallic wall, before getting washed away into a wave of cosmic effects as the groove drops for a thunderous finale.

Returning to Particles, David Leckenby's "Primal Connection" sees two superb original tracks backed by a pair of high-calibre remixes from Australian and Italian artists.

Rising to prominence in the latter half of the decade, music has been central to David Leckenby's life. With its "therapeutic and energizing" qualities, it has provided a spiritual sustenance to the Australian, while work signed to the likes of Consapevole Recordings, PHW Elements and Emotional Content Recordings has provided tangible success for Leckenby's endeavours. Returning to Particles after August 2019's "Stardust", "Primal Connection" is a typically multi-faceted offering with rich melodic layers pulsating gently against a backdrop of ticking hi-hats and heavy kick. A gloriously sustained bassline provides a spine-tingling melodic phrase and an arpeggio gently pans the left-right spectrum. Evolving gently through its swirling soundscapes, the result is a modern progressive gem. "Wanderlust" continues the strong bassline narrative of its EP partner while grooved stabs syncopate effortlessly against cool rhythmic percussion. A pitched vocal effect adds intrigue and a counterpoint melodic phrase sees Leckenby's production skill come to the fore alongside trademark textured pads.

Gavin Griffin and Matty Doyle's journey across Proton labels is unparalleled. Under their GMJ & Matter monikers, the duo has shaped the modern progressive house sound with their timeless and inspiring production work. Together they have featured heavily on Proton Music with a trio of original EPs, from 2016's "Superposition" and 2017's "Osmosis" to 2018's "Interscope". A remix of Leckenby's "Stardust" saw a debut collaborative remix on Particles as the Australian duo now return with a dazzling rework of "Primal Connection" that retains the central bassline of the original while adding a chunky melodic groove that infuses the track with dancefloor energy. Glorious new additional production material provides melodic flourishes and a spine-tingling breakdown offers a moment of joyous reflection. The result is yet another highlight in the GMJ & Matter production arsenal.

Andrea Cassino has been at the vanguard of the underground music scene since the turn of the millennium. First with production partner Alex Laben and latterly under solo guise, the Italian has been at the heart of all that is good in modern electronic music. Finding a voice with his solo work for Soundteller Records, ICONYC and Balkan Connection, supported by the likes of Sasha, Cattaneo and Warren, 2017‘s "Divine" EP for Proton Music was a notable highlight. Remixing the likes of Simos Tagias, Danny Lloyd and Nicolas Rada for Particles now sees Andrea Cassino provide a bouncing, bass groove-fuelled reworking of "Wanderlust" that revels in tight percussive syncopation and hypnotic prowess. A gloriously modulated arpeggio waxes and wanes, while the overarching theme of Leckenby's original cleverly infuses the remix alongside Cassino's Vangelis-esque lead line and swathe of additional production material.
