With one foot planted firmly in the 80s and the other kicking open the next sonic frontier, Baldhero & Van Whelan are dedicated to the proposition that all synthwave is not created equal. Accomplished recording artists in their own right, the Canadian duo joined forces in 2017 to release their bold debut “LA to Mars”—an epic concept album introducing synth enthusiasts to their signature driving basslines and mesmeric drum beats. Their latest release, “Hero’s Journey”, charts the rapid rise of a protagonist riding the soundtrack of some of the most familiar sounds you’ve never heard before.
