Immersion dans un univers sonore à la chronologie franchement hachurée; à la lisière de l'onirisme et d'une recherche plastique, aux frontières de la surface et de l’abysse. 
Tantôt faseyant timidement entres les divers plans, tantôt passant de l’un à l’autre par le biais d’un violent coup de bôme. «Ready about… Tacking» emprunte au monde de la voile sa matière sonore, sa surprenante variété de secousses énergétiques, sa frénétique course vers l'avant...


Ready about... Tacking (2015)

The basic idea for composing "Waves" was coming to me when I was involved in a recording session dealing with large gamelan gongs. The base material for the piece is a handful of samples of two large gongs, as they are played with different dynamics and different beaters. The aim of the piece was discovering different musical associations with the phenomenon of 'waves' departing from the inherent pulsation I heard in the samples, and moving to more complex types of textures of flocking motion and waves caused by artificially designed virtual reverberant spaces.

«Les loges de la suite» se veut être une introspection; une complétion personnelle par réutilisation d’objets sonores tirés des disciplines musicales que j’ai autrefois regretté ne pas avoir perfectionnées… ou bien d’avoir abandonnées. Ces éléments transcendés et ré-articulés avec le souci d’une prise de conscience de mes tendances compositionnelles font à la fois office d’un regard vers le passé et d’un aiguillage vers le future; d’une loge d’où contempler la suite.

L' osmose (2019)

• Binaural decoding

L’ osmose is an acousmatic composition commissioned by the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival 2019 and was mixed at the Notam, Studio 3 in Oslo. The piece has been originally composed and diffused within a dome of a 32-loudspeaker array. The material of the piece is comprised of synthesized and electroacoustic sounds whereas its acoustic profile formulates a virtual, 3D soundscape. My goal is the depiction of a live, sonic organism emerging from various different angles of the space. The composition addresses one of my most recent conceptions with regard to formal structure that of angular, phrasal displacement and the unpredictable collage of heterogeneous material. I am interested in displacements and juxtapositions and form remains to be subject of ongoing and unorthodox osmosis of ideas.

L' osmose (2019)

Reverie is an acousmatic composition that leads the listener through an immersive fantasy centered around deconstructed music boxes. The work comprises eight sections that alternate between explorations of the music boxes’ gears and chimes. In the work, the music boxes’ sounds are pulled apart, exaggerated, expanded, and combined with other sounds whose timbres and textures are reminiscent of the original. As the piece unfolds, the timbres increase in spectral and textural density, and the associations become more and more fantastical. Gears are transformed into zippers, coins, chainsaws, motorcycles, and fireworks, and the chimes morph into rainstorms, all sizes of bells, pianos, and more. 

Reid composed the work during residencies at the Ucross Foundation and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. 

Reverie won First Prizes in the 6th International “New Vision” Composition Competition “Galaxies” in memory of Nicolaus Copernicus, the 8th KLANG! International Electroacoustic Composition Competition, and Musicworks' Electronic Music Composition Contest; Sound of the Year's “Composed with Sound Award”; and Second Prizes in both the Xenakis International Electronic Music Competition and the XIII° International Destellos Competition.
