A song written with Ben Robbins in half a day to a brief for an ad pitch. It was all done and dusted by lunchtime, and over a celebratory Guinness we called on our mate, the brilliant violinist Anna Phoebe to come put some of her magick down.
It may form part of an ongoing writing project, but for now we hope you enjoy.

Demo teaser of a song by Balsamo/Deighton co-written with Julian Wilson of Grand Drive. We tried out the song for key, vibe, tempo and to see if our voice blend or 'the rub' as Emmylou puts it, is working. We like it and have put down another version with producer John Reynolds but have changed up a couple of words here and there. The last line pay off now goes ' bad luck for me, and bad luck for you'...

The first single from the Balsamo Deighton project is to be released digitally on 29th July 2012.  A cover of a Shawn Colvin song, it features Steve White on drums (www.whiteydrums.com - Paul Weller, Style Council, Oasis, Sam Gray)  and Robbie McIntosh on guitars (www.robbiemcintosh.com - John Mayer, The Pretenders, Norah Jones, Macca) as well as the beautiful voices of Steve Balsamo (www.stevebalsamo.co.uk) and Rosalie Deighton (www.myspace.com/rosaliedeighton).

Balsamo Deighton - I Don't Know Why (preview clip)

Written with Emma Jane Thommen and recorded at Chris Sheehan's studio in London. We kept it sparse and spectral with just Em on piano and added a tracked up harmony vocal to add some atmosphere. Will probably put a spooky twangy guitar when we come to record proper for the album.

Written and recorded at Dean St Studios Soho London, during a session for another song, These Four Walls. Someone started playing a few chords, and 3 hours later Drive On was finished. Ben Robbins wrote it with us and produced.
