Liara has been a kickass member of Femmedecks since May '21. She has played countless live shows with us, but this is her first digital debut as a part of the Femmedecks team.

"Electro is my bread and butter as anyone who listens to me for long should know. I break the mold however with this mix by being less focused on hypnotic acid lines and more focused on bright synths with a lot of arpeggiation. When you hear music from older sci-fi movies, synths are often what the composer felt the future would be, and this mix hits hard on the sense of futurism. It still retains a lot of the heavier, darker, and tension filled elements I’m known for, but holds a certain hopefulness. A hopefulness that I believe we all share for this coming year."

Blu 9 is a Chicago born and raised DJ/Producer within the ranks of the underground house & techno scene. She has played at spots such as Primary Nightclub, Hydrate Nightclub, Spybar, Smartbar, Prysm, The Mid and Soundbar to various underground events and festivals in Chicago such as ARC Festival and Spring Awakening.

Laila Amira is a Brooklyn-based DJ who loves to create genre- fluid electronic mixes, drawing upon her love for both old and new disco, as well as house music. Moved by the tracks she has heard across NYC nightlife, Laila Amira began DJ-ing about a year and a half ago. She hopes to curate a world through music where people can escape their realities. The connections and feeling of elation Laila has experienced on the dancefloor constantly inspires her to create the same for her listeners. 

"This mix in particular is very special to me because it combines tracks from the first two sets I've ever played out- the support I received pushed me to continue to pursue this passion. I have never experienced such a loving community and I'm grateful every day for it. I've been meaning to create a tribute mix to these sets for quite a bit of time and I'm so excited that I get to release it on Femmedecks- thank you for including me in the mix series and I hope you enjoy listening to it"

"My loved one always says (borrowing from Rick & Morty): “you can’t learn anything until you learn how to chill” - and she’s damn right. Chilling is something I am pretty bad at though. You know, living in London and being slightly enslaved by my passions… but still, there is one place I am able to chill: the space in-between spectral voices, dub-infused grooves and weird & wonderful textures of the likes featured in this cocktail of, personally, very emotional tracks. As I listen, the oomphs and throbs flying out of subwoofers transport me right where stress lives - inside my own body. There, whispering words of comfort to my stiff muscles, I finally take a moment to take care of myself. 

I hope this mix will serve as a soundtrack for many other visceral soothing moments like this - a warm bath, incense and candles are highly recommended :)”

Chicago's Leesh lives for the Rave. Rooted by the beautiful moments of community and camaraderie on the dancefloors and behind the decks, they created Daisychain at the very start of 2018. The weekly mix series sheds light on the sonic energy from trans and nonbinary folks and women from around the world. Inspired by new beginnings, prismatic light, daisies and the power of genuine connection ~ Daisychain sprouted to life and has only continued to grow. Leesh hosts a monthly Daisychain residency on Berlin's Refuge Worldwide radio station. You can also find them in the Bay Area from time to time as a resident of Squish.
