Modelos verticales sostenibles que están transformando el sector agrícola

It is a common consensus that urban growth has altered the links in the natural water cycle through soil sealing, exploitation of aquifers, drying up of water bodies, channeling of streams and creeks, etc. These factors increase the vulnerability of cities to extreme rainfall events, resulting in floods, landslides and other impacts that affect urban infrastructure and even cause human losses. In this episode we present innovative cases of nature-based solutions that bring the water cycle back into the urban fabric, which, when applied at scale, have the potential to significantly reduce climate vulnerability.

Extreme storms and rainfall: excess rainwater from problem to opportunity

In 2019, our country office in Jamaica launched the Project Executing Units' Challenge to promote sharing and learning from each other as well as improve execution results. 

The Challenge had 4 main goals:
1.	encourage excellence in project management; 
2.	serve as a platform for knowledge exchange;
3.	identify best practices; 
4.	recognize the commitment to development results.

In this podcast, our host Golda Lee Bruce, Development Storyteller at the IDB, has a conversation with this year's winning team, the Project Sector Transformation Program, represented by Maria Thompson Walters and Richard Panton. Additionally, Adriana La Valley, IDB Chief of Operations in Jamaica, also shares the importance of the challenge and key lessons on project management from her 3 years in the country.

As International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Women’s History week in The Bahamas approaches, domestic violence in the region and in The Bahamas is on the rise. In this podcast, we speak with three change agents working to combat the scourge of gender-based violence. Tune in as we speak with Khandi Gibson - founder of one of the first shelters in the country; Dr. Rochelle Lightbourn – the Citizens Security coordinator charged with training community residents on how to recognize Domestic Violence; and Marisa Mason-Smith – the Advocacy Chair for the Zonta Club of New Providence’s 16 Days of Activism campaign. Our host for this episode will be Inderia Saunders, IDB Communications Consultant for The Bahamas.
