Ten is the base of the decimal numeral system, by far the most common system of denoting numbers in both spoken and written language. The Greeks called ten a perfect number, because it’s equivalent to the number of fingers on human hands.

And as a representative of Tropicaldo's first double-digit set, we invited the 1/2 Brazilian and 1/2 German and Berlin resident, Phil OG. Also 1/2 of the duo Balearic Banana, which presents unique mix series with a beautiful musical research, as well as guests with unique curatorship.

“I own this Flexi-disc from National Geographic where Dr. Roger S. Payne talks about the songs of the Humpback Whales and points out that a recording of their songs was put into the Voyager spacecraft, as one of the many greetings from earth to be discovered and decoded by some other space faring civilization within its 1.2 billion years journey. 

One thing that strangely brings me comfort in turbulent times, such as what we are experiencing, is the text Carl Sagan wrote about earth as Voyager 1 took a picture 6.4 billion kilometers away from earth.

“Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every ‘superstar’, every ‘supreme leader’, every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.”

This whole story of this ‘bottle message’ from earth got me thinking, what I would like to put in if I had the task summarize my perspective of the tropical sound. I hope you enjoy the result”

Dez é a base do sistema numérico decimal, de longe o sistema mais comum de denotar números na linguagem falada e escrita. Os gregos chamavam dez de um número perfeito, porque equivale ao número de dedos nas mãos humanas. 

E como representante do primeiro set de dois dígitos da Tropicaldo, convidamos o 1/2 brasileiro e 1/2 alemão e morador de Berlin, Phil OG. Também 1/2 do duo Balearic Banana, que apresenta mix series únicos com uma belíssima pesquisa musical, além de convidados de curadoria ímpar.

Uma coisa que estranhamente me traz conforto em tempos turbulentos, como o que estamos vivenciando, é o texto que Carl Sagan escreveu sobre a Terra quando a Voyager 1 tirou uma foto de 6,4 bilhões de quilômetros da terra.

‘Olhem de novo esse ponto. É aqui, é a nossa casa, somos nós. Nele, todos a quem ama, todos a quem conhece, qualquer um sobre quem você ouviu falar, cada ser humano que já existiu, viveram as suas vidas. O conjunto da nossa alegria e nosso sofrimento, milhares de religiões, ideologias e doutrinas econômicas confiantes, cada caçador e coletor, cada herói e covarde, cada criador e destruidor da civilização, cada rei e camponês, cada jovem casal de namorados, cada mãe e pai, criança cheia de esperança, inventor e explorador, cada professor de ética, cada político corrupto, cada "superestrela", cada "líder supremo", cada santo e pecador na história da nossa espécie viveu ali - em um grão de pó suspenso num raio de sol.’

Toda essa história da ‘mensagem na garrafa’ da terra me fez pensar, o que eu gostaria de acrescentar se tivesse a tarefa de resumir minha perspectiva do som tropical. Espero que gostem”
