How did you two meet / when did you decide to join forces?

Miss B: We met at a lake one sunny gorgeous Berlin summer 2021… I was hungover so we didn’t talk much, we just said wassup, I thought Ladykub and DBBD were soooo sexy :p I was making music with my ex and we broke up so Ladykub suggested me and DBBD go to the studio and try making music together, then we had a blast and came up with Mini Skirts on Men hehe.


Your music effortlessly combines elements of ghetto house, techno, electro, and hard trance. Was this hybrid sound something you always intended on creating or did it just happen organically when you came together? 

DBBD: It definitely happened organically. When we came together to make music we had been partying together for a while, so it was natural for us to incorporate elements of the type of music that we enjoyed. We send each other songs all the time that include parts we like, but rarely actually use reference tracks while producing. 

“Muschi Muschi” has quickly become a rave classic, did you have any idea it would blow up so fast?

DBBD: No, I had no idea to be honest. The track was actually quite spontaneous in terms of its production but became the favorite amongst our friend group. I made the beat while Miss Bashful was out getting a snack and the lyrics were pulled out from her notebook. In the original recording you can hear Miss B snacking on chips between takes lol.

Miss B: Of course I knew it would blow up... it’s sexy af …haha jk. I mean personally we knew it sounded good but it’s krazy how fast people sent it around and loved it and started playing it… who doesn’t luv stripperz and getting their p*ssy ate and & a sexy beat!?  I remember Laserdong was the first to play the track at Porzellan bar and DBBD sent me a vid but I was in Mexico… I was like omggggg.

What track of yours took the longest to finish? 

DBBD: I think Pornstar with DJ Fuckoff took the longest to finish, only because we were sending versions back and forth often in order to refine the vocal flow and certain elements. The ending I also added later on so it went through a few versions.

How has coming up in the Berlin scene impacted you individually as artists? 

DBBD: We used to go out and party a lot together, so going from music enjoyers to music creators and performers is quite the trip. What we like the most about our development is being behind the scenes, meeting lots of cool people and experiencing the music also from a business sense, although sometimes we do miss the mindless raving…

Miss B: I grew up in Houston and listened to a lot of indie and trap hahah so everything about the techno scene I learned in Berlin the last 6 years… Also doin sex work in Berlin and exploring my freedom and identity and being around sexy ass europeans showing me the way of life out here has been so fun and influential but with my lil Tex-Mex twist :p

Is there anything people tend to assume about you two that just isn’t true?

Miss B: He belongs to me and that’s all I’ll disclose for now...

Favorite memory together? 

DBBD: Before summer we made a song about island hopping to Corfu and then actually ended up going there with our homies, blasting the song on our boat ride. We also filmed a music video there but decided not to release it… maybe one day we will ;)

Miss B: Probably rolling around naked in hot rocks on a private beach in Greece ;)

What’s next for you guys?

DBBD: Lot’s of gigs and traveling as well as working on a full studio album. We will be trying to explore some other genres and really just be as creative as possible. We look forward to this busy yet exciting year.

Having already jumped on support slots for the like of Moktar, Partiboi69, Crush3d, and Ewan McVicar, West Coast based upcomer Friend Of A Friend is clearly onto big things.

Drawing inspiration from his British and Indian heritage, Friend of Friend is an expert at keeping a dancefloor pumping, blending house, techno, breaks and experimental sounds in his sets.

He is also one of the artists putting the Boorloo dance community on the map, actively contributing to bolstering the scene’s reputation through his label and event series Katci.

We’re so excited to be hosting him for his first of surely many triple j sets, and you can expect to get a taster of plenty of his own productions (including a few sneaky cuts from his new EP Urs Are Mine !!), in the mix as well as some other local heavyweight producers.
