Had it always been this grey and miserable? She couldn't remember the last time she saw the sun; felt its rays beaming down on her face. What a difference it made to just about everything in life... Any mournful or anxiety-inducing feelings seemed to evaporate as soon as the weather brightened up, but this year that thick cloud wouldn't shift. It could be a while before she'd get more sun...

Redstone Press are returning with their first release of 2023 and a brand new signing: Berlin-based Londoner Kincaid. Known for his intricate sound design and slick stripped-back compositions, this fresh four-track release is another masterclass in his tight approach to production whilst expanding his sound even more. Across the release he balances eerie atmospheres and textures with crisp percussion, chopped vocals and precise drum programming for a brilliant debut effort on the burgeoning Glaswegian imprint.

Flippen Bits proudly welcomes Amsterdam-based producer Cameron Audio for his label debut with *Deportes Dembow* - a percussive, dembow-infused house EP shaped by his Chilean roots and recent relocation to Europe.

Built around tightly programmed rhythms, deep low-end grooves, and understated melodic details, the EP delivers a fresh take on Latin-influenced dance music without leaning into pastiche. Cameron weaves classic house sensibilities with contemporary sound design, resulting in a release that’s both grounded and forward-looking.

Label head Monty DJ closes the record with a heavy-hitting remix of the title track, pushing the percussion and bass into peak-time territory.

A heavyweight return from one of Hypercolour’s founding forces - Alex Jones pushes on with his recent output of mangled club sonics on new single ‘Belong’  

Driven by a backbone of skittering, distorted drumwork and lurching, thunderous low end - ‘Belong’ weaves warped piano and frenzied samples through its core with equal parts menace and momentum, while its looping vocal mantra floats over chest rattling synth lines for a slice of raw club tackle.

'Floating, Glowing' is the latest release by producer RXEX, finding a home on much-loved Naarm/Melbourne-based label Backpocket Slammers. 

"A six-track voyage through shadowy low-end terrain," 'Floating, Glowing' is a mix of introspection and build, perfectly articulating the forward-thinking approach to Australia's more experimental takes on dance floor psychedelia, featuring remixes by none other than Andy Garvey and Autogenesis.

'Bone Whistler', premiered here, is a heaving mix of dubstep and half-time drum & bass, consistently shifting its shape but with a consistent dedication to weighty percussion. 

Of the track, RXEX shared a similar kind of smokey mystique:

"Exhale decaying rhythms, glowing and dissolving into shadow — inhale the unknown, floating light of fractured realms, rising from the dreams of silent nights."

'Floating, Glowing' is out today, Friday, August 1, via Backpocket Slammer's Bandcamp.
