New to the DJing world, our resident DJ Sarah Jane Riegler has spent most of her life as a professional drummer/percussionist. She began studying traditional West African percussion a decade ago, but her love for popular African music started in 2011 while she was studying music and dance at the University of Ghana. 

While out in the clubs in Accra, she was instantly hooked when hearing afrobeats artists like Wande Coal, P-Square, and R2Bees and has been exploring popular music from all over the continent ever since! Craving the incredible energy from the dancefloors of continent as well as a platform to showcase genres not often played in downtown Toronto(like afrohouse, gqom, and kuduro), our series AFRO HAUS was born!

This week she gives us an uptempo, groovy tour around sub-Saharan Africa, with a delicious mix of afrohouse, kuduro, and afrobeats from Nigeria to Angola to Côte d’Ivoire to South Africa and more!
