Vertige II is the second compilation to be released on Abîme, gathering tracks from ten artists to explore the Vertige concept with a wider spectrum of intents.  

It features contributions from musicians all around the globe, each of them delivering an interpretation of this ambivalent sensation that could be equally seen as a positive or negative feeling if taken in its plurality of meanings.

Ranging from GIL’ dizzying textures in ‘Storm Petrel’ to the sweetness of Fauness’ guitars in ‘Am I ready’, Vertige II finds its coherence when seen as a progression, a back and forth between fear and love, with each track responding to the previous one by being its deforming mirror.

Vertige II puts the emphasis on vocal tracks, but again doesn’t limit itself to a one-sided approach, and that’s how Lil Asaf’s harsh Jordanian rap can be found coexisting with Flagalova’ anthemic pop and Ptwiggs’ shoegaze ‘Forever is not enough’. 

As the successor of our first compilation, this record can be seen as both a continuation and a rupture in comparison with it. The delicate sound palette of the original opus has exploded and expanded into an ecletic collection of pieces, sometimes frightening and overwhelming, and sometimes soothing and reassuring, as is the Vertige.

The oil stains the killer's arms and puts the car in a state of complete halt, forcing the passengers to walk. The engine is a signal of escape, and restraining the runaway means temporarily binding it. The spark plugs perform a crucial function, generating a spark to ignite the fuel-air mixture inside the combustion chamber. The heart of humanity is the spark plug inside the engine, it must be removed so it can stand still again. Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy step out of the way after spilling the engine oil.

 Qef ق​ِ​ف is the second track of the album "Shoot The Engine" releasing on the 9th of May on Amphibian Records.

Ahmed El Ghazoly aka ZULI, is a musician, producer, and sound artist from Cairo, Egypt.

Internationally, ZULI is best known for his releases on Lee Gamble’s UIQ – which included a string of EPs as well as his debut LP Terminal, an album that highlighted the depth in his productions, as he simultaneously combines experimentations in rap/hip-hop with music for listening as well as the dancefloor. The Italian Haunter Records also saw the release of the infamous Trigger Finger EP which went on to be remixed by the likes of TSVI, AYA, Acre and more.

ZULI’s music garners support all over the board ranging from the likes of Aphex Twin and Autechre, to Ben UFO and Bradley Zero, even Richie Hawtin through its wide ranging sound.

He joined the NTS Radio roster in 2016 with a monthly show that includes a dedicated hour to guest appearances from up and coming DJs and ones he meets touring around the world.
