The location had been scouted out, the plans and preparation were in place, all they needed was for the crowd to show up. On the edge of the city amongst the woodland and the trees, there were abandoned buildings just waiting to be filled with music and bodies, far far away from prying eyes. As the end of the working day approached and darkness took hold, people began making the pilgrimage out into the sticks to lose their inhibitions and cast off their worries; for the next 12 hours the outside world didn't exist.

Hot on the heels of releases from Morelia and Rory K, London label Das Booty welcome aboard Glasgow's Fear-E for Horns Crew Go Wild. Releases for a list of acclaimed labels like Dark Entries, Super Rhythm Trax, DABJ and Don't Be Afraid, as well as his own Posh End Music, have already helped cement his reputation for producing cross-genre club cuts. His debut on Das Booty tips the hat to his formative clubbing years and trips to huge raves in the 90s, touching on old school, rave, acid and breakbeat that's packed full of energy.

There had been a change in the air, but it was something you couldn't see. It wasn't visible or tangible, you could just sense it, feel it, breathe it in... Nothing was out of place, everything seemed to be just the way it had always been, so why did it all feel so different? The effect had rippled through the atmosphere and taken over, and until the source was identified there would be no way of ever returning to normal....

Dansu Discs kickstart 2023 with the first collaborative EP from London producers LUXE and Tom Place. Their styles complement one another - LUXE's knack for huge bass lines and trance-influenced synths pair perfectly with Tom's off kilter approach to breaks and electro. On Moonquake the duo share three percussive, bass-driven tracks that bring together all those aforementioned influences, backed by a jungle flip from Banoffee Pies and Planet Euphorique alumni Angel D'lite.

« Founded almost four years ago, Le Motel’s Maloca Records has excelled in world-building as it tirelessly brings together some of the best and most innovative artists from different pockets of the club community around the world. Across 17 tracks, Maloca, Vol. 2 features both label family and exciting debuts with the likes of Farsight, Griffit Vigo, and DJ JM returning to the imprint. The rest of the compilation sees knockout contributions from the likes of Bambounou, Flore, Konduku, Tristan Arp, NVST, De Grandi, Neida, Cheb Runner, Malo2k, Leese, Ultima Esuna & Destrata, Mika Oki, M I M I and Space Drum Meditation. Whilst these artists may be from different cities across the pond, they all have something in common - they are leading the way for the next wave of club music. The artwork is by Brussels-based painter Anastasia Bay who’s work presents a renewed vision of the human figure. Oscillating between abstraction and figuration, Anastasia Bay’s work is all about contrast and balance. The choice of a precise fragment of reality in her works dissolves any narration. »

@jenkemmag and Steel City Dance Discs unite for a high-energy compilation – each team bringing forth two artists of their choosing for a heavyweight bout across 4 tracks.

All four artists are up and coming international-based electronic musicians and DJ’s, regularly releasing records and appearing on the international club circuit (that once was). The combo represents a global take on Electro, Techno, Drum and Bass, and main room rave-style rhythms.

Jenkem Recordings is the music imprint of Jenkem Magazine, a skateboarding and culture platform, based in New York. Jenkem Recordings’ main goal is to continue to push the strong connections between music and skateboarding by finding new artists to support who have a strong connection to both communities.

Steel City Dance Discs is a record label exported from Newcastle, Australia AKA the Steel City. From House to Gabber, there’s no bracket for S.C.D.D.’s racket – the group has maintained a steady flow of genre-spanning records and tapes since 2016. With the members having originally connected through skateboarding, this collaboration between the two groups came as a natural one.

2020 was definitely a sad year for club culture, but it reminded us of the importance of sharing in our communities, especially in the times to come. So, what better way to start 2021 than inviting a bunch of talented crafters around the anvil? We’re thrilled to unveil the fourth volume of the ‘Crysta Ampullaris’ series: an eclectic blend of works by friends, artists we love and – as usual – La Forge’s core producer unit.
More ambitious, this extended compilation brings together 13 tracks from top-tier French producers Saint-James, Scarlet, Aval Douar, Atomic Moog, Vina Konda, JKS and Raven, as well as Swiss army knife Hermeth, alongside regular blacksmiths Shonen Bat, Nigm, Ayuji, Slowglide and Lebird. It results in a wide-ranging and emotionally charged patchwork of highly energetic breakbeats, electro and techno bangers, deep introspective explorations and futuristic sonic oddities. Like a hopeful prayer for our beloved dancefloors to re-open soon !
