I played a hugely enjoyable 8 hour marathon at Kantine am Berghain in Berlin last Thursday, and although I wasn’t able to record the whole night, I did manage to get the first 3 hours and the final hour and a half. So this is a mix in 2 parts – the first 185 minutes a downtempo groove fest, whilst from 3.05.26 onwards we’re into the final furlongs of the party with proceedings much more upbeat.

It was Pingipung 01, Peter Presto's "Es war Sommer" and it was love at first sight. That this flash in the pan would turn into a 20-year (business) relationship is one of the most beautiful stories you can experience in the music business. After roughly 16 months finally a new DJ mix. Inspired by the recent set at Heideglühen Berlin. All featured music was played at the club during the >3hr set. Upon re-recording I once more realised how rare it has become to be able to play such a set and how grateful and humble such great music leaves you.

In July 2010, I got an invitation to play at a small but neat festival named Folk Ibiza. It was my first visit to the island. I got to spin at a bunch of different locations, such as the Hostal Boutique Salinas, Sunset Ashram, and on the terrace at Space. I returned in September of the following year to play a set on Andy Wilson's show on Ibiza Sonica and a second time at the Hostal. I have not been back to Ibiza since. I recently came across this picture (taken at Cala Compte next to Sunset Ashram), which inspired me to make this mix. I tried to sonically capture the vibe that I felt back then. It includes some bona fide classics such as Ashra "Oasis“, Santana "Aqua Marine," and Jah Wobble & Holger Czukay "Hold On To Your Dreams," as well as tunes by Smith & Mudd, Begin, Quiet Village and more.
