Navettes’ is the debut LP from Baron Retif & Concepción Perez (BR&CP). After releasing three records with Musique Large (home to Debruit, Laurent Garnier and Fulgeance) as well as with parisian label Heavenly Sweetness and assorted remixes and rap beats, they are back with Musique Large for their first full-length album.
Largely instrumental, the album also features guests Benjamin Glibert (Aquaserge) playing bass on «Navette» and «ML disco club», COEFF spitting rhymes on «Kamoulox» & Napoleon Maddox singing on «The Crave». BR&CP music sounds like Perrier sparkling water: never automatic, always elastic.

MUSHROOMS PROJECT – DIRTY BOLAS/SUNSET BALLAD

Three years on from the release of the critically acclaimed debut album, Undergrass, Mushrooms Project return to Leng with a two-track taster for their forthcoming follow-up full-length.

In the intervening years, Giorgio Giri and Marco Lentano have hardly been slacking, further exploring their unique blend of glistening Balearica, dubbed-out disco, Italian Afro-cosmic and psychedelic nu-disco via EPs for Horn Wax, Uber and Hell Yeah! Recordings.

Their latest two-track missive is undoubtedly amongst the Italian duo’s strongest work to date. The A-side boasts “Dirty Bolas”, an effortlessly summery groover destined to soundtrack sultry evenings and sun-baked afternoons. Its’ rolling, percussive funk groove and undulating electric bassline keep the action moving, but it’s the tumbling guitar solos, toasty keys, humid electronics and atmospheric field recordings that catch the ear.

Flip the 12” for “Sunset Ballad”, a near ten-minute epic that more than lives up to its’ name. Soft, delay-laden acoustic guitar passages and yearning electric piano flourishes set the tone, before the Parma-based production duo gradually up the pressure via a shuffling groove, whispering acid lines and quietly bubbling synthesizers. It’s undeniably rich and life affirming, but best appreciated while lying flat on your back.

Dirty Bolas will be featured on the duo’s second album 'Rivea Corymbosa', which is slated for release in the final quarter of 2016. For now, you’ll have to make do with these two slices of seductive, sun-bright brilliance.

In the five years following his last solo album Moon People, Nickodemus has continued to spread his global sound through endless DJ tours, recording in studios, and scouting new music for his acclaimed Wonderwheel label. He’s made some new friends along the way too, with his constant journeying helping culminate in the new full-length A Long Engagement, a sonic portrait of 25 years of connecting people through music. 

Nickodemus has been active touring the entire globe since the mid 90s; as a producer he's released three albums, remixes for everyone from Bob Marley to Thievery Corporation, and 10 Turntables on the Hudson compilations that have established him as a seasoned musical traveler who excels most when playing in diverse settings that thrive on vibrant sounds. His new work is the latest chapter of his musical vision, offering global rhythms rooted in deep, introspective electronic moods built for the dancefloor. 

Throughout the 13 tracks of A Long Engagement, Nickodemus reflects on his rich history working in NYC club music and around the world, including some fresher analog sounds alongside collaborators new and old. Highlights include a new track with Carol C, who sang on cult classics like “Cleopatra in New York” and “Mariposa," three tracks with Brooklyn's afro-beat group Antibalas, and the soulful house keys of Brooklyn native Victor Axelrod. You’ll also hear Grammy nominated Innov Gnawa on the thumping dance-floor version of "Mystic Molay,” while Ninja Tune revered vocalist Grey Reverend lends a soulful vocal to album’s finale 'Music Man.” Like all of Nickodemus’ past musical gifts, A Long Engagement is another worldly musical journey that pays homage to the artist’s city roots and decades of hard-working curation across the world's continents.
