Again and again on Sundays ... the memory comes, fun aside!
Today part two of the wonderful year 1982. At that time I took the entire annual vacation with my partner and we drove or flew to America, at that time still with Pan Am and I sat in a jumbo jet for the first time ..
A propo feeling: It was my nicest and most exciting vacation in the entire 80s.
No record store was safe from me, I had to go to every one I saw from New York to San Francisco - two fascinating cities, by the way.
In a second hand record shop, I saw a man who looked somehow familiar, when two other customers started whispering and talking to us the mystery was solved.
It was New Year's Eve, unfortunately I was so excited that I didn't dare ask for an autograph.
Another experience that I will probably feed on until my "end" is a night in the hottest club in the world, at least back then, Studio 54 in New York.
We just tried to come in and stood in line for half an hour when one of the many bouncers wanted to know where we came from. We said we were from Germany and he said: "Welcome to the Studio 54"
A night that I will never forget ... I had never seen so many crazy and trendy people in one bunch, never danced to such loud and fantastic music and one song was better than the other.
Since then I have been collecting all the films and facts about Studio 54.

I still remember a lot of the songs that was played at that night, many of them you'll hear now in the mix.
The big thing came after midnight, the famous “moon” in 54 outshone the dance floor, then the light was dimmed, fog, thunder, crazy light effect and the crowd suddenly raged and screamed and we just thought what was happening here.
To blame was a song that was just so hip, that people reacted like this: “It's raining men” by the Weather Girls, of course I spent a lot of time in the last week of our vacation trying to find the song somewhere :-)
I'll try to be brief now.
Let's start with a let's say disco pop classic from 1982 "Saddle up".
1982 also stood for the sound of an Italian producer team who, like CHIC, produced very melodic disco funk, Jacques Fred Petrus and Mauro Malavasi. They shaped the sound of Change, BB & Q Band, Peter Jacques Band, Ritchie Family's “I'll do my best ”or“ Feelin lucky latey ”from high fashion and many more artists.
Aretha Franklin was on everyone's lips again with “Jump to it”, Michael Jackson was in the charts with all the songs on the album THRILLER, so to speak, the best-selling album of all time !!!
Prince sang in 1999 and his "girls" Vanity 6 proved to be Nasty Girls :-)
Freeze landed a dance hit worldwide with I.O.U., which Westbam later revived with THE ROOF IS ON FIRE, and a song by Kraftwerk, “Transeuropa Express”, was a freestyle bestseller from Afrika Bambaata.

1982 Part II It's Disco Time

Hello dear fans and friends of my musical curriculum vitae, today we go back to the year 1988 before we head for the end of the 80s.
In 1988, near Nuremberg Castle, I met my old radio colleagues from Munich who were now working at Radio N1. Back then, rock music was still playing there at first and we shared the frequency with Radio Downtown, I still like remembering the daily handovers.
That's when Markus Kavka's great career began at the Erlangen station.
Later, the music at Radio N1 changed to hit radio.

But back to me, 1988 was a year in which Britpop found more and more friends
Enjoy songs by Johnny Hates Jazz, Then Jerico, Aztec Camera, Prefab Sprout or Deacon Blue - you may not be familiar with many of the names, which is one more reason to listen :-)
The Bible were also a band that was sold far below value, their "Honey be good" is a real gem
 Van Halen, Survivor and Melissa Etheridge shone with their tracks
John Farnham recorded his (for me best) song "The Age of Reason".
and !!!! Cannata !!! with "Fortune Teller" this Canadian rock song is still one of my absolute rock classics

1988 Pop, Rock & Britpop

Today you may enjoy the first of two parts, in which we leave the decade of the 80's,
In 1989 dance music was a bit on the decline, only a few artists like DonnaSummer, Dusty Springfield, the Pet Shop Boys or Liza Minelli attracted aattention with their Disco songs.
But soul & funk was a little more popular again and a new beat became very fashionable.
This beat came from London and was invented by Jazzie B, 
he founded Soul II Soul in the 70s when he was just 13 years old, it wasn't until the end of the 80s that he finally got the long-awaited record deal and then he started very successfully.
"Keep on movin" and "Back to life" were two mega hits that found many imitators in terms of the beat.
From America came Bobby Brown, who was also spot on with his sound and also charted worldwide.
There were more one hit wonders than in years past, Jane Child "Don't wanna fall in love", Innocence "Natural Thing" (the song with the Pink Floyd sample), Candy Dulfer on her saxophone and "Lily was here." ", just to name a few
Cure were very lascivious with "Lullabye", Tears For Fears were suddenly back with the fantastic "Sowing the seeds of love" in the 70s sound, Roxette debuted with "The look" and were successful for decades from then on.
De la Soul also shook hits out of his sleeve, hip hop and rap were more popular than ever.
Holly Johnson from FgtH landed two solo hits and Quincy Jones drummed up a few top-class acts to record a new album.
Madonna got sensitive souls upset with the video clip of "Like a prayer" and Phil Collins was also at home in the clubs with "Something happened on the way to heaven".
Two soul divas came together for one song, one young and one legend:
Whitney & Aretha wow!!!

1989 Pop, Soul Funk & Dance

So friends today it's time to wrap up 1989 and what better way to do that than with the sound that was to become a staple in clubs in the 90's, house music
In 1989 there were already a number of names at the start with this sound, which I quickly learned to love - and they were still in charge for the next few years.

First and foremost the mother of all house divas, Adeva! With "Respect" and "Musical Freedom" she was simply on top.
Years later we will find the song just mentioned in a completely new guise (Candi Staton "You got the love") in the clubs with another song that we can enjoy today, Frankie Knuckles and "Your love", he is one by the way my all time hero, he was such a brilliant DJ and producer....
Inner City were also successful after their first successes in 1988, also with a "cover" version, they got a classic by Stephanie Mills from the 80s box "Whatcha gonna do with my lovin'".
There were also K.L.F., who coined the term Stadium House and sampled like crazy.

And one more name that must be mentioned: CeCe Rogers, what a voice
Producer Arthur Baker, a sought-after remixer and producer in the 80s, was also in the club charts in 1989 with "It's your time"
House music, with all of its sub-categories, started to explode:

Bizz Nizz, Karya or Tafuri had great songs, but you couldn't keep up. But Black Box inspired the masses with their sound, "Ride on time" with the samples of the legendary Loleatta Holloway was just one of many hits that were to follow.

Sydney Youngblood was very successful here in Germany, and of course the excitement par excellence, the first hit by Culture Beat "Ich bin so wild nach deinem Erdbeermund" with such clear lyrics :-)

Electribe 101 with the wonderful singer Billie Ray Martin should not be missing here in 1989.

1989 It's Time For A House Party

So here I am again :-) 
Musically we are now in the year 1990, which really had a lot to offer, there were so many new music styles
Eurodisco, also known as Eurodance, spread.
Snap! Snap! And snap again! One hit after the other, you will hear them all!
Diversity was also popular in the pop area.
Depeche Mode delivered as usual, Dave Stewart, one half of the Eurythmics, brought us an unrivaled one-hit wonder with “Jack talking”, EMF were simply “Unbelievable” and “Right Here Right Now” by Jesus Jones I loved it without end
 
Memories of a 70's TV series with Barabara Eden as Geanie were brought back thanks to Dimples D and the remix of "Sucker DJ"
Monie Love revived The Spinners' "It's a shame" and Janet Jackson also had chart presence.

Oh yes, there was the rapper with the song Ice Ice Baby, which sounded like a Queen hit :-)
Paula Abdul, a top choreographer, proved that she can also sing and THE K.L.F. Brought rave back into the world charts

1990 was also a great year for the Pet Shop Boys and a couple of Austrians shook up the clubs with a cool idea. As a framework for their song "How to dance" they took the instructions for dancing from an old K-Tel record, which at that time were always in the business of current music compilations. 
There were also a few samples of dance classics from Chic, the Bee Gees, Tom Jones with Art Of Noise, Sylvester and and and.

It can also be a bit regional, because at 24 Sevens “I can't stand it” rapped Nuremberg's local matador Tony Harrison, better known to us as Captain Hollywood

Finally, a bit of the man with the harem pants and the crazy dance style, MC HAMMER, photo model Nick Kamen and Britpop from New Order and Electronic

1990 Everything Except House Part II

1990, the year in which the Hubble Space Telescope was put into orbit and the boy band Take That was founded, is once again the focus of my musical CV.
As promised, today is about the house tracks of this year.
We start off cool with the band Family Stand and their mix of R&B and house on the song "Ghetto Heaven".
I also remember pretty well when "Naked in the rain" was played for the first time.
The bubbling sound with the smoky voice of the singer Durga McBroom was just good.
The most surprising formation for me was Deee-Lite, who produced two crazy tracks with "What is love" and "Groove is in the heart".
"(I wanna give you) Devotion" is also one of "the" songs of the year whose hook is still often used as a "sample".
Thanks to Paul Oakenfold, (a former record label scout and then a remixer and DJ to this day), he was instrumental in the sound of an incredible 1990 track, Frazier Chorus "Nothing". Watch out for the strings, awesome!

Inner City, The Shamen, Adamski with Seal and the 49ers were also acts heard everywhere.
Matt Bianco embraced the house style, as did Simply Red and D.N.A., who even mixed classical music with house beats.
Not to forget vocal house tracks by Satoshie Tomie, Tongue 'n' Cheek, Jomanda or Alison Limerick, not only good for dancing, but also good for the ears.
Thanks at this point to one of my heroes of house music "Frankie Knuckles" - what legendary music you gave us, especially mixed and produced and.... you were also a great DJ....
The C+C Music Factory and other hip artists also liked the newer sound.
Berlin's Westbam took a few well-known samples and created the party track of the year with "The roof is on fire" and the Xpansions spoke to our hearts with "Move your body".
With "Welcome to my groove" we enjoyed Latin beats in house music and acts like Secchi, Double Dee and !! came from Italy. Black Box, who started out with three successful songs in 1990.
Electronic sound or trance sound was in the foreground with cult tracks like "Infinity", L.F.O. and ages of love
