Teardrop (Massive Attack cover)

Using oscillator sync to bring out odd overtones in some of the 002's vocal-like waves.  The ambling sequence is from my Evolver, with a little JP-8080 in the background, too. 

As usual, this is a jam recorded in several takes, edited and EQ'd in Reaper but, for a change, the reverb is external and comes from my old LXP-15.

Chant

A frenetic sketch that grew out of some 002 noodlings.  In fact everything is 002 apart from the drum loop which is from a Sonic Potions LXR.  

I bought the LXR just after I bought a Machinedrum.  They're both very deep and in quite different ways but given the reputation of the Machinedrum, even the early ones like mine, it's interesting that the LXR was the first to appear on a recording.

The voice belongs to the late Richard Feynman talking in 1974 about 'Cargo Cult' science.  The full source is here: https://youtu.be/yvfAtIJbatg.  He makes some great points and, sadly, I feel they're even more valid today.  

When I grabbed the audio, Youtube stated that the video was licensed as "Creative Commons Attribution licence (reuse allowed)".

Five Minutes

I made this as part of a challenge in an FB musical experimentation group that I belong to. The idead was to destroy a previously published track. This was Leftie from last year, originally a live improv on the 002. This time I transferred the original to two tape tracks on the OP-1. I let it play, messing with the tape transport controls and CWO FX for five minutes or so, live. Then I put the resultant performance back into Reaper and made additional edits and loops, picking out details that I liked.

Having my life turned upside down by the arrival of a new pup has led to certain thoughts and phrases looping annoyingly in my head. Sometimes my head adds a tune and then I'm stuck with my own self-inflicted ear-worms. Here's one that I thought I'd share.

This is also one of those tracks created in response to a musical challenge in a Facebook group that I belong to, this time to do something specifically with melody and avoid any sound fx, ambient drones and the like.

What you hear is the 002 in multi-timbral mode with six midi parts playing out from Reaper. All sounds and FX are configured on-board in the 002 in a single performance, with levels and filter dynamics controlled just with midi velocity messages. Apart from the fact that I'm not playing the keyboard, this is essentially a stereo capture of a live performance.

Just me, a TC Helicon VoiceWorks and a couple of days messing around in Reaper (just in-the-box tools).  This is another recording in response to a challenge from the EMP group on FB. 

Oh, and I think the radio programme I'm trying to remember was called The Space Between. I haven't been able to track it down though, as Google only throws up links to a track of the same name on the LP Fourth Dimension (which I also have).

By the way, if the image is infringing anyone's copyright please let me know. I found it via Google by searching for 'free clip art', but the site it came from wanted me to sign up before letting me see any details.
