It's fair to say that Justin Robertson is a bit of leg-end. Working behind the counter of record shop Eastern Bloc in Manchester in the early '90s, he's gone on to perform on Top of the Pops as Lionrock, remixed acts like Bjork and the Happy Mondays, and played everything from dub to techno at the world's finest nightspots. His latest production project as The Deadstock 33s, following aliases such as Gentleman Thief and Revtone, mixes up gritty post-punk disco leftism with a house, techno and electro edge, exactly what you'll find on this podcast. So if you like it, book yourself a flight as Justin will be playing at Unknown in Croatia, which takes place from 10th - 14th September.

Finally i´m done with my special podcast series for 2017. As usual i was collecting music over the past year, cutting, remastering and remixing  the music i included in this very personal piece of work. Its a journey through cinematic, hypnotic and electronic soundscapes to explore the soul and emotional aspect in dance music. My bed In Black Rock City last year was practically on the DISTRIKT dance floor, so I was awakened by many of the opening sets, that are unjustly less attended than the closing sets, at dawn. The awakenings were always pleasant and often made me feel energized, and wishing for stronger playa WIFI so that I could shazam from my pillow what was being played. The opening sets defined DISTRIKT for me in 2016, and if my taste is any indication, some of those openers will eventually be playing the closing sets. I am so grateful for the entire DISTRIKT team for once again giving me the amazing Thursday sunset slot, and I hope that you enjoy listening and dancing and reminiscing to this one!

Love International Mix 009: Lovefingers

Over the past few years it really has been delightful watching Jane Fitz receive the rightful praise she has deserved for a long time. As a key figure in the British dance and electronic music scene she has worked hard to assert herself as one of the most important selectors and disc jockeys on the circuit and longstanding residencies at the likes of Freerotation and Night Moves have helped cement her place. In the booth she spins an eclectic mix of house, techno, ambient, acid and the abstract. Her sets weave between style, genre and pace in an intriguing fashion as she guides dancers into the small hours. With sets at the likes of Panoramabar, Tresor, Concrete and more all under her belt you can bet your last dollar that this one will bang with precision and eloquence. 

Jane Fitz will appear at Love International next week, the Croatian festival will take place at The Garden in Tisno from the 27th of June.

Next up in our mix series is the intoxicating, the interminable, Anatolian Weapons. As a producer Aggelos Baltas has piqued the interest of New York tastemaker Tim Sweeney with a forthcoming release on his Beats in Space as well as releasing on the mighty Dekmantel and wonderful Lurid Music. 
As a DJ he regularly serves up healthy slabs of mid paced acid belters which serve up dancefloors all over Athens and the rest of Europe, the world, who knows, with music like this perhaps Aggelos should be the first DJ to play in space!  Enjoy.
