Shika Shika is very excited to announce the second volume of Passages, our series of mini-EPs where we invite artists to tell their story of migration through music.

For this edition we invited Guatemalan-born but now Paris-based producer Di Laif to submit three tracks that speak about his experiences migrating to a new continent, culture and language. These three tracks reflect Di Laif’s personal growth as he adapted to his new city with the music reflecting the flutes, vocals and marimbas of his Guatemalan roots seen through the new metropolitan, cosmopolitan and electronic lens.

Lizards is the new project from Lee Forster and James Hadfield. Lee is known as part of the North-East’s answer to Busted, otherwise known as DJ and production trio Last Waltz (Endless Flight, Let’s Play House, Tusk Wax). James releases under guises Hadfield and Elizabeth Collective (NAAR, LBL, NEIN). The pair have been friends for the best part of twenty years and have been making music on and off for the last fifteen although strangely have never actually got round to releasing anything together until now.

For their first release and first time on Join Our Club, we’d like to present Glamour Catty, which we feel is a truly unique track full of interesting Middle Eastern references with Malcolm Sharp on guitar and an absolutely killer bassline.

Like a bad smell Bird of Paradise is back again on remix duties this time pushing the tear jerking synths up for a real spacey and poignant trip into the unknown darkness.

[ENG] The semiconscious state of the world of imagination, connecting without commitment facts and fictions, is the thematic-musical chosen to represent the sequences of release "Devaneio" (“Daydream”). Have you ever had the feeling of not knowing if you are awake or dreaming? We can concentrate our mental energy on the "here and now" but it can be healthy to allow ourselves the privilege to let our minds wander.

We thank the group of artists who kindly offered their compositions. It is an interesting mix of producers, pushing the sound in all sorts of new directions. We shared out the clipping among five releases, which tends towards the slow feelings. It seems like a vortex whose fluency explores elements of a fantastic world, which populates a dreamlike universe. This universe reproduces a little of the daydreaming’s wit, whose randomness is a striking fact. Therefore, the question that channels this whole plot is simple. What happens next?

[PTB] O estado semiconsciente do mundo da imaginação, conectando sem compromisso fatos e ficções, é o recorte temático escolhido para representar as sequências de lançamento "Devaneio"("Daydream). Você já teve o sentimento de não saber ao certo se está acordado ou sonhando? Podemos concentrar nossa energia mental no "aqui e agora", mas pode ser saudável permitir-nos o privilégio de deixar nossas mentes vagarem.

Agradecemos ao grupo de artistas que gentilmente ofereceram suas composições. É uma mistura interessante de produtores, empurrando o som em todos os tipos de novas direções. Nós dividimos as faixas entre cinco lançamentos, que tendem para os sentimentos lentos. Parece como um vortex cuja fluidez explora elementos de um mundo fantástico, que povoam um universo onírico. Esse universo reproduz um pouco da sagacidade do devaneio, cuja aleatoriedade é um fato marcante. Assim, a pergunta que canaliza todo esse enredo é simples. O que acontece depois?

Maracuyá — Planète Rouge

Shika Shika - the record label without borders or owners - celebrates its first physical format release with ALBURA, the new album of Barrio Lindo, available as a 12” limited edition and in digital format on April 6th.
ALBURA is a portrait of the last three years of touring through Latin America, USA and Europe, that inspired this new phase in the work of Agustín Rivaldo, producer, luthier, and co- founder of Shika Shika Collective.
With its 12 tracks, ALBURA invites the listener to go on a deep and fresh journey into the contemporary sound of Latin American music, accompanied by organic electronica. In the midst of cumbias, sambas, carnavales and folkloric melodies, this record includes collaborations with indispensable referents of the new wave of South American producers who have crossed paths with Barrio Lindo: Jhon Montoya, Ela Minus, Lulacruza, Clara Trucco a.k.a. Wende Wen (Fémina/Weste) y Carrot Green.
This album merges the two universes that coexist in Agustín Rivaldo: the role of producer and the role of a luthier dedicated to traditional South American instruments. In fact, the name ALBURA is a botanical nod to the youngest part of the wood of a tree, and where the most recent growth rings of the trunk are found, at the same time a vital part for luthiers.
During the production process, Rivaldo recorded with instruments that he made himself: charangos, guitars, quenas and marimbas, among others. On the songs Pura danza, Saudade and Intensidad mañanera he uses his own singing voice.

The result is an incredibly eclectic reimagination of the original organic downtempo piece. ��It includes remixes by recognised producers such as Steffen Kirchhoff, San Ignacio , Eduardo Zambrano and Felipe Granda. At the same time it introduces emerging artists from the Manchester music scene such as the incredibly talented SonOfCushi, the wonderful Mola Mola duo and the amazing musician and producer HERMANITO who also plays violin a lot of Joaquin’s music such as ‘Cumbia a la Luna’ and ‘Brisa’. Shika Shika Collective is proud to present “De aquí hasta aquí”, the debut album by percussionist and producer Federico Estévez.

You may know Fede as the drummer and percussionist for Chancha Vía Circuito´s live band, having made a reputation around the world for his rhythmic virtuosity and trademark broken beats.

Following “Hologramas” the captivating opening track on Shika Shika’s “Mare Insularum” compilation, “De aquí hasta aquí” is Fede’s first full-length release. On it he shares with us his complex, poly-rhythmic universe through ten tracks uniting his own South American origins, with African rhythms and featuring collaborations with Rodrigo Gallardo, Pablo Paz, Wen, Manu Quintans, Klik & Frik and Chancha vía Circuito.

“Federico Estévez is one of Buenos Aires' most versatile musicians - at once an incredible producer and formidable percussionist.
