MORDBOX001 - V/A - Herdersmat part 1-7 [Previews]

<p>The second instalment of Eric Sneo&#8217;s Re-Transmit series has landed and Boris gets his hands on &#8220;Slave To The Beat&#8221;, where he mangles the trademarked vocal even more. Cavernous effects bring us up to date, the shuffling rhythm section grinds away and some of the industrial overtones of the past are kept alive. On the 2014 edit, we get the vocals in full force, while much of the menace of the original is kept intact as the sub-bass gallops under the hats and rides.<br />
 Sasha Carassi&#8217;s version of &#8220;Dance La Famila&#8221; steamrolls through the night with its tough groove and mechanized percussion, letting dark stabs and a bubbling bassline all come together for a streamlined, nocturnal journey.</p>

This was my absolute jam in 2004. I used to wear it out back when Scott Storch was my favorite producer. Benzi reached out to me a while back about remixing it and I knew it had to be done right. I really tried to give this track the feeling it gave me when I first heard it. Nothing too over the top, just smooth and sexy. The 808s really hit on this one. I think it's perfect for Valentine's Day.

Longtime Berghain resident, Figure Music founder and Berlin techno stalwart Len Faki is known both for his discerning, impeccable taste, so when we heard that he had agreed to remix French artist DNGLS for the enigmatic Anemone Music label, we were understandably enthused.

What Len ended up turning in, however, was much more than simply a remix, but, as the label calls it a “whole new realm of possibilities” – three different versions of DNGLS‘ “Hooly” – and we’ve got an exclusive listen below.

“When I heard the track first time, I instantly loved this special melody a lot,” Len tells us. “It was a pleasure to work on it, also because it is a little different than my other productions and a great experience to work in this direction. In the end, this is how the three different versions were formed, mirroring three different club moments. The first one is more like an energetic moment on the floor, while the ‘Tool’ is clubbier, more subtle, focused on the late night club moments. The ‘Beatless’ version is to listen to outside the club, or starting/ending the night.”
