Een sentimentele, epische set met Italo vibes waar David Vunk trots op zou zijn.

Enfant terrible van de elektronische scene: DJ Space Operator stopt! Na maar liefst 29 jaar heeft hij zijn laatste plaat gedraaid, hangt hij z’n koptelefoon aan de wilgen en staat zijn apparatuur voor een habbekrats in de ramsj.

De reden? Geruchten gaan dat hij verloren heeft in een bare knuckle fight (ja, daar blijkt hij óók goed in te zijn). Helaas was dit niet zijn lucky day. Blijkbaar had hij wat schulden bij zijn tegenstander die zijn geld terug eiste en tja… dat had hij even niet. Dus is hij naar het buitenland gevlucht.

We ontvingen een mailtje:
“I had to quit DJ'ing, not because I was the superstar I am, but some Hagenezen, die kregen nog een zooitje geld van me en nu vervang ik meterkasten. Ergens. Het was een eer om voor jullie te draaien, maar het is ff genoeg zo! Deze mix is mijn swansong, mijn laatste. Space Operator als DJ bestaat niet meer. Ik heb al mijn veerkracht opgebruikt en na meer dan twee decennia is de cultuur veranderd; ik voel me oud, verouderd, ingehaald. Maar geen spijt, ik heb genoten, en dank aan iedereen voor de support, of we nu ruzie hebben gehad of niet (DJ’s zijn drama queens, mezelf inbegrepen). Het is tijd voor een feestje voordat ik klaar ben voor het bejaardentehuis.

Oh, en voordat jullie allemaal gaan zeiken over betaald krijgen: dit gaat om liefde voor de muziek, niet om je ego. Mijn eerste fee was een paar gram c0ke of 100 gulden. :')

Kort, krachtig en typisch Space. Kort van stof, maar altijd vol energie achter de decks. Hij mag dan wel stoppen, maar we hebben zijn laatste set in de pocket zodat we zijn muzikale erfenis nooit zullen vergeten.🎧

Sydney born, Berlin based, Cliff Colada returns to The Disco Express this month with his highly anticipated 4-track EP, Ten Hours North. The EP drops on Friday 31 January and offers listeners an intoxicating blend of afro, disco, and euphoric house, perfect for lounging in the sun.

Known for his signature sound that evokes the joy of happy hour cocktails and late-night dancing, Cliff Colada’s Ten Hours North is a sonic journey inspired by a transformative period in the producer’s life. The EP draws from an eclectic mix of influences, including long reflective drives, nostalgic memories of 2000's television, and the vibrant energy of beach club DJ sets.
