Was für ein Jahrhundertsommer! Passend zu den Hitzerekorden liefert die 10köpfige (!) Luzerner Reggae Band Basement Roots mit der Single Catch The Flow den perfekten Soundtrack für ein erfrischendes Karibik-Feeling fernab von Jamaica. Es dauert wohl nicht mehr lange, bis hierzulande anstelle von Tannen Palmen wachsen. In Luzern ist es aber offenbar bereits so weit!

Nach einer EP und fast 100 Konzerten in der ganzen Schweiz folgt Mitte September das heiss erwartete Debut-Album von Basement Roots, aufgenommen im analogvibes Studio in Tübingen (DE). Man darf sich auf einen Mix aus Roots Reggae, Rocksteady, Ska und Dub freuen. Oder kurz: Auf authentisch gespielten, jamaikanischen 60er und 70er Sound!

Catch The Flow

"Experience" is the name of the debut album by the 10-membered (!) reggae band Basement Roots from Lucerne, Switzerland. After countless hours of spending time in the rehearsal room and fine-tuning their sound, the young newcomers became an integral part of the Swiss reggae scene. Thanks to more than a hundred concerts, an EP and now with their first long-play, they are sending out their tribute to the Jamaican 60ies and 70ies.

On "Experience" Basement Roots convinces with the perfect balance between attention to detail and skilful restraint. In collaboration with the German roots reggae singer and producer Martin Zobel, a unique piece of analog Caribbean feeling was captured. The mix of roots reggae, ska, rocksteady and dub as well as the multiple lead vocalists make "Experience" a throughout diverse and colourful record. A mighty horns section, sweetest harmonies, solo parts and vibeful instrumentals round up this timeless "Experience", which you should not miss to check out!

Mitte September 2018 hat die Luzernern Reggaeband Basement Roots ihr Debutalbum "Experience" veröffentlicht. Mit neuem Material im Gepäck sind die 10 (!) Luzerner nun auf Tour. Stops in Frankreich, Genf und im Tessin sowie eine mit mehr als 600 Zuschauern mehr als gut besuchte Plattentaufe gehören zu den Highlights. Im Videoclip zur zweiten Singleauskopplung "Working" wurden die Expressionen der ersten Liveshows festgehalten. Der Songtitel passt, denn eines ist klar: Bei Basement Roots werden freiwillig Überstunden geschoben!

Auf „Experience“ überzeugt Basement Roots mit der perfekten Balance zwischen Detailverliebtheit und gekonnter Zurückhaltung. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Deutschen Roots Reggaesänger und Produzenten Martin Zobel wurde im analogvibes Studio in Tübingen mit altem Aufnahme-Equipment aus den 60er und 70er Jahren ein einzigartig warmer Sound geschaffen. Dank dem Mix aus Roots Reggae, Ska, Rocksteady und Dub bleibt die Platte vom ersten bis zum letzten Tune spannend. Die sich abwechselnden Leadvocals unterstützen diese Vielfalt, Soli und Instrumentalparts setzen die i-Pünktchen. Eine „Experience“ die man sich nicht entgehen lassen sollte.

Langsam wirds unheimlich: Erneut präsentiert Easy Skanking mit Cedric "Congo" Myton eine jamaikanische Legende, die seit den 60ies den Sound der Insel in die Welt hinausträgt. Luzern, du darfst dich freuen!

The Congos haben damals mit Lee "Scratch" Perry eines der relevantesten Roots Reggae Alben überhaupt aufgenommen: "Heart Of The Congos" wurde dank Überhits wie "Fisherman" zur Benchmark für die Bands und Produzenten der jamaikanischen 70ies. Omnipräsent: Die einzigartige Stimme von Cedric "Congo" Myton.

Doch nicht nur im Jamaika der 70ies sondern auch im modernen Luzern wird Roots Reggae, Dub und Rocksteady so authentisch gespielt, wie man sich das als Liebhaber von Band wie The Gladiators, Israel Vibration oder eben The Congos nur wünschen kann.
