Folktronica is a style that was born as a seed sent by Mother Earth and reproduced around the world like flowers, being the musicians it's bees. From Latin America they made their way to the cities like the green arms of the Amazon, but with charangos, flutes and synthesizers, until reaching the most remote places of the Earth as a whole new voice in electronic music.

With the mission to find the precious balance between the world of traditions and technology, plus a touch of mystery and modernity, folktronica positioned itself as a genre in alternative websites such as Bandcamp and Soundcloud, and then became massive in Youtube and Spotify, which were filled with artists, fans and music that spread the style from Latin America to the world, finding then each region of the world its own interpretation of this mixture of ancient sounds and contemporary technology.

Today, in the midst of a chaotic present in humanity and in the face of a Western music industry focused on the purely commercial, the beauty and depth of this ¨mestizo¨ movement that speaks of Mother Earth, folkloric traditions, ancestral rhythms and themes of the spirit is often overlooked, meanwhile it keeps exploring with the highest musical technology and forming itself as a new great world underground movement. Today Ritmos del Sur undertakes a project to share, strengthen and value these musical ideas that already inhabit the whole world, with flavors that from Latin America also pass through Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and much more. ¨This is Folktronica¨ is an eclectic compilation of 14 songs that are immersed in this genre, a spiritual nectar that we hope will bring you peace, joy and lots of rhythm to cheer your body and soul.

This project was developed by Ritmos del Sur, with the sponsorship of Cosmovision Records, with its beautiful artwork designed by Choque and a sound exquisitely Mastered by Matías Parisi, both from Argentina and compiled by Felipe Nadeau, aka ¨El Extravagante¨, from Chile, now based in Dijon, France.

Arumbo is the result of an artistic and musical exploration by Marta Meix Garcia (Barcelona) and Jonas Mertens (Brussels), inspired by the experiences, learnings, and emotions from this beautiful process called life. Since 2015, they have performed over 250 concerts on renowned stages across Europe and released two albums and an EP.

For their latest album, Mirada Transversal, they collaborated with Jairo Palchukan, an indigenous musician and multidisciplinary artist from the Kamsá community in the Colombian Amazon. This work is a more personal and introspective project, inviting listeners to connect with that mysterious space of spirituality we carry within.

On this remixes album we find a very fun mix of artists and ideas, a lot of Latin American influences combined with the new grooves from Spain, making an album that’s very deep, catchy and fresh in terms of sounds and rhythms, we are sure you’ll enjoy it a lot.

About this EP :
Heimya is a French electro-acoustic trio blending Arabo-Andalusian, Berber, Native American, and Western sounds into a rich, mystical journey between ancient roots and modernity.
Across its four songs, mystical instruments come to play such as flamenco guitars, ancient flutes and deep voices, blending with tribal beats and percussions that sound that might come from another time. All these somehow magical instruments, bearers of ancestral traditions, also very deep and hypnotic, weave a connection between distant influences and contemporary production, creating a soundscape that is both introspective and dance-inducing.
To add up to this sonic alchemy we have a selected group of Franco-Chilean remixers featuring Mula, Karmaâ, Derrok and El Extravagante which add even more eclecticism, groove and inspiration to a release that's has folktronica, downtempo, organic house and even a touch of afro house grooves that's for sure going to be one of this summer's most talked releases.
We invite our beloved audience to open this delicate Pandora's box of rhythm and grooves — a vibrant mélange of cultures and sounds — perfect to set the tone for summer and kick off the festival season in style.

A remix pack is nothing more than the universe experiencing its own dance music subjectively. With this in mind, we took Ecuadorian sound-seer Nicola Cruz’s latest audiovisions and refracted them through the minds of some of the world’s hottest young cultural interpreters. To provide you with the best possible approximation of what the results feel like, we then sent an intern to loiter outside a local Heart-Opening Ceremony to get people’s unfiltered reactions just moments after they awakened to their new place in the universal order.

Following the release of their short film 'The Awakening' and its accompanying single, Lost Souls Of Saturn share the first remix in 8 years by revered musician James Holden. Over thirteen minutes of crisp, stratospheric elegance, Holden’s rework is both slightly mad and simultaneously blissful – like a trance-state reached through frenzied, spiritual ritual.

“I believe in serendipity: if the universe presents you with something that seems right, you should go with it”, says Holden. “When this record hit my desk was one of those moments. Recently I'd been thinking a lot about rave utopias, the pan-global fantasy painted by the early days of Future Sound Of London etc, and listening to LSOS's Jodorowskian ceremonials I felt like they'd caught the same winds. And so, although I thought I'd finished doing remixes for this lifetime, here it is; some kind of dream of a memory of a rave, the spookiness of the original slightly eclipsed by my warm feelings about Seth's good energy!”
The original version of ‘The Awakening’ begins as a serene ambient spacecast, before an ancient alien rite of tribal frenzy starts to emerge through the phosphorescent stardust – sonically somewhere between Demdike Stare and classic Orb, by way of Don Cherry.

Primarily LSOS are Seth Troxler and Phil Moffa, plus further opaque participants congregating to combine music, imagery and storytelling into an inextricably linked whole, all wrapped-up in a philosophy of their own making.

Attempting something creatively that’s above-and-beyond, LSOS explore new ways to open doors of perception and challenge the reality vs. simulation paradigm, whilst capturing the spirit of Philip K. Dick, Sun Ra and the KLF within their music, live experiences and films. 
These spiritual, psychoactive aural vibrations resonate for a long distance, all the way back to something deeper and more enchanting than the prosaicism of modern life: 

“We have been sent synchronistic signs from a metaphysical plane. We are the glitch-seekers, exposing the Holes In The Holoverse. We are Lost Souls Of Saturn.”

‘The Awakening’ single follows LSOS’ ‘Holes In The Holoverse’ EP, which featured a remix by Turner prize-winning artist Wolfgang Tillmans and a video which can been seen at www.lostsoulsofsaturn.com 

Prior to that, the duo performed their live debut as part of the ‘GaiaMotherTree’ installation with artist Ernesto Neto at Zurich Main Train Station, and a second show at Houghton Festival. 

Following these site-specific ambient renditions, the full LSOS live experience will be unveiled in London at Village Underground on Thursday 18th April and Field Day on Friday 7th June.

Lost Souls Of Saturn are preparing their debut album for release in June.
