based in dhaka, bangladesh, rish0’s music revolves around electronic sounds that reclaim their histories and origins, and ones that deliver waves of euphoria to the listener’s neurons. her inspiration is derived from music from the uk-asian underground soundscapes, music from the bpoc diaspora worldwide, and music from the global south, within the electronic realm. rish0 has melded her passion for djing into her political dna in hopes of preserving sounds from the roots that push raves into the future, and also because she believes that the world has heard enough of white and white-passing electronic music in the last couple of decades. by exploring sounds/noises/beats that speak of diasporas and underground rave cultures in places that have been made vulnerable due to socio-economic/political forces, rish0 dreams of a nightlife culture that is tailored to fit the global south, moving away from the ideologies of hollywood-esque, euro-usa clubbing/raving landscapes. and now, for rish0, what began as a passion for electronic music has transitioned into a dancefloor experiment. she is the co-founder of gyanjam collective, an underground electronic music and arts platform designed to curate alternative dancefloor experiences, perched upon dancehall ideologies and sound system cultures that are placed in context of sounds from the south asian soundscapes. she terms her style of djing as "conscious curation".
