Last Gentleman On Playa drops a mystical organic house release on his record label, It’s Good To Be A Tree, and it also includes remixes by Dr Parnassus, MiRET, and Kermesse.

Known for his trippy style, which combines immersive atmosphere with tribal drums, Last Gentleman On Playa is heavily inspired by his experiences at Burning Man. Most of Last Gentleman On Playa's music has been released through his own record label, but he has also featured on other imprints including Cosmic Awakenings.

On remix duty, Kermesse and Dr Parnassus have both previously featured on It's Good To Be A Tree, but MiRET is featuring on the imprint for the first time.

Kermesse in an Argentinian artist known for his mix of psychedelic vocals, quirky rhythms and majestic melodies. He has released music through record labels such as Kamai Music, The Magic Movement, and Lump Records.

Dr Parnassus is a shamanic producer from Bali, whose tracks are a concoction of shimmering synths and Middle-Eastern melodies sequenced into melodic grooves. He has featured on record labels ranging from Sol Selectas to Underyourskin Records.

Based in Spain, MiRET is making his first appearance on It's Good To Be A Tree, following regular releases on his own imprint [MuMa]. He has also featured his chugging downtempo style on respected outlets such as Bar 25, 3000 Grad, and Sounds of Sirin.

"Khor Lo" is first of the original tracks, and it's a tense instrumental track with swelling pads and intricate melodies, creating spine-tingling suspense.

"Upaya" is a downtempo track with a low-slung bassline, which underpins the call-and-response of muffled guitar chords and fluttering acid synths, while sparkling percussion adds to the enchanting vibe.

Dr Parnassus' remix of "Upaya" removes the acid melody, drawing focus to deep pads that create a more melodic version, which is both majestic and uplifting.

"Juzu" is the third of the originals, and it layers live percussion with an array of trippy samples to create a compelling groove that unfolds with the help of plucked guitar chords.

Kermesse also remixes "Juzu," and add one of their characteristic funky basslines, while warping the sound of the guitar to create a distinctly unique version.

MiRET's remix of "Juzu" makes good use of the original's guitar, but strips back the percussion to create an atmospheric groove with pulsating pads and plodding bass chords.

Access Frame: Equity is a compilation of 20 local electronic artists with many original works that span a wide spectrum of electronic music genres: from noise and sonic art, via bass, breaks, all the way to acid techno. The concept of the compilation is to bring attention to the conflict between necessity of free culture and enclosure of culture by copyright law. The conflict which is temporarily solved by Creative Commons licences.

Access Frame is a series of compilations of adventurous music published by Kamizdat under a Creative Commons licence on 14. July – International Netlabel Day. It tries to establish a practice of thinking critically about access to, and distribution of, art. It poses a question: what is the frame through which we are allowed, and able, to access culture? How is it created, by whom, and can such frame of access be modified and transgressed?

With her DJing and creative project Automagicalley on hiatus, Adi’s 2020 has been home to a slower kind of alchemy - the creative processing of two years’ worth of musical sense impressions into the basic fact of a needle on a record.

Our dear Walrus tells the story best:

“Adi picked me up from El Dorado airport around Christmas 2018. I remember that moment stuck in a hot summer traffic jam, both of us laughing at the rattling from the trunk of her dad’s car - good ears! That evening we played outside under a lemon tree at one of the first Automagicalley events, a wonderful b2b full of curiosity and honesty about art, spirituality and life. Fast forward through some Europe trips - of course including a Basic Moves party - and we arrive at this mini album. The fruit of half a year of friendly exchange between Adi, me and our magical mix engineer Chris ‘Funk’ Ferreira, it reveals Adi’s authentic spirit - always moving, forever creating and endlessly believing.”

Adi herself explains the many emotions and headspaces influencing her process: the self-reflective loop of lockdown, the ebb and flow of working alone and with others, the despair of conflict and endings, the dizzy optimism of a Don Cherry album. Now these feeling-frequencies can be heard even louder around the globe.

All music written and produced by ADI in Bogota/Colombia and Lima/Peru from 2018 and finished during winter, spring and summer of 2020. Wada es un DJ con sede en Chiba, Japón. Empezó su carrera con la influencia de FUTURE TERROR y la escena que lo rodea. Desde entonces, ha conseguido gigs en otras partes de Japón como Shizuoka, Osaka y Kita-Kyushu.

Lo que hace su set muy especial es la consistencia del ritmo, aunque las canciones que toca son muy diversas. Verás un fuerte funkiness creado a partir del groove maquinaria a través de su estilo.

Hoy en día, está organizando una fiesta llamada Spotseek en el Sound Bar Mui en Chiba con el concepto "local 2 local". Significa que no sólo contratan DJs a través de agencias, sino que se conectan directamente con ellxs y las escenas locales a las que pertenecen. Invitaron a DJ Sotofett y DJ Fett Burger, Luca Lozano, DJ TLR, Mr. Ho, así como a DJs de Japón y artistas en vivo.
