Your youth has passed away like this, and old age has overtaken your body.

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ । ਉਮਰ ਲੰਘਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।੩।

(ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ) ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਲ ਅੰਞਾਣਪੁਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ, (ਹੋਰ) ਵੀਹ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ (ਲੰਘ ਗਏ, ਭਾਵ, ਤੀਹ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਟੱਪ ਗਿਆ, ਤਦ ਤਕ ਭੀ) ਕੋਈ ਤਪ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ;
Twelve years pass in childhood, and for another twenty years, he does not practice self-discipline and austerity.

ਤੀਸ ਬਰਸ ਕਛੁ ਦੇਵ ਨ ਪੂਜਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਾ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਓ ॥੧॥
ਤੀਹ ਸਾਲ (ਹੋਰ ਬੀਤ ਗਏ, ਉਮਰ ਸੱਠ ਤੋਂ ਟੱਪ ਗਈ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ) ਕੋਈ ਭਜਨ-ਬੰਦਗੀ ਨਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ, ਹੁਣ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਣ ਲੱਗਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।੧।
For another thirty years, he does not worship God in any way, and then, when he is old, he repents and regrets. ||1||
