ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਆਖ—) ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਾਮਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ । 
I am a sacrifice, O my soul, to those who take the Support of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਬਿਖੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਾਰਣਹਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ (-ਭਰੇ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Guru, the True Guru, implanted the Name within me, O my soul, and He has carried me across the terrifying world-ocean of poison.

ਜਿਨ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥
 ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕ-ਮਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਸੋਭਾ-ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Those who have meditated one-pointedly on the Lord, O my soul - I proclaim the Victory of those saintly beings.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
Nanak has found peace, meditating on the Lord, O my soul; the Lord is the Destroyer of all pain. ||1||

ਸਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਜੀਭ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜੀ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਾਮਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ । 
Blessed, blessed is that tongue, O my soul, which sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord God.

ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਭਲੇ ਸੋਭਨੀਕ ਹਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੁਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਹ ਕੰਨ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹਨ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Sublime and splendid are those ears, O my soul, which listen to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.

ਸੋ ਸੀਸੁ ਭਲਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਜਾਇ ਲਗੈ ਗੁਰ ਪੈਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਸਿਰ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ । 
Sublime, pure and pious is that head, O my soul, which falls at the Guru's Feet.

ਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
 ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਉਸ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਹੈ ।
Nanak is a sacrifice to that Guru, O my soul; the Guru has placed the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in my mind. ||2||

ਤੇ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਭਲੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਭਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਸਫਲ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, 
Blessed and approved are those eyes, O my soul, which gaze upon the Holy True Guru.

ਤੇ ਹਸਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੇਖਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਉਹ ਹੱਥ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Sacred and sanctified are those hands, O my soul, which write the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪਗ ਨਿਤ ਪੂਜੀਅਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਧਰਮ ਚਲੇਸਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
 ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ (ਉਹ) ਪੈਰ ਸਦਾ ਪੂਜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੇਹੜੇ (ਪੈਰ) ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । 
I worship continually the feet of that humble being, O my soul, who walks on the Path of Dharma - the path of righteousness.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨੇਸਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥
 ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਅਧਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
Nanak is a sacrifice to those, O my soul, who hear of the Lord, and believe in the Lord's Name. ||3||

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Basant, Fifth Mehla:

ਜਿਸੁ ਬੋਲਤ ਮੁਖੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਰ) ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, 
Chanting His Name, one's mouth becomes pure.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਬੇ-ਦਾਗ਼ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ,
Meditating in remembrance on Him, one's reputation becomes stainless.

ਜਿਸੁ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਕਹੈ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਧਦਿਆਂ ਜਮ-ਰਾਜ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦਾ 
Worshipping Him in adoration, one is not tortured by the Messenger of Death.

ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥
(ਡਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਰੇਕ (ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ) ਚੀਜ਼ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Serving Him, everything is obtained. ||1||

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਬੋਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਕਰ । 
The Lord's Name - chant the Lord's Name.

ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Abandon all the desires of your mind. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਧਰਣਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ) ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, 
He is the Support of the earth and the sky.

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨੂਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ,
His Light illuminates each and every heart.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਹੋਇ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਭੀ) ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Meditating in remembrance on Him, even fallen sinners are sanctified;

ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਰੋਇ ॥੨॥
(ਤੇ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਅੰਤ ਸਮੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।੨।
in the end, they will not weep and wail over and over again. ||2||

ਸਗਲ ਧਰਮ ਮਹਿ ਊਤਮ ਧਰਮ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸੇ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਧਰਮ ਹੈ,
Among all religions, this is the ultimate religion.

ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਕੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਮ ॥
ਇਹੀ ਕਰਮ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਤਮ ਹੈ ।
Among all rituals and codes of conduct, this is above all.

ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ) ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ) ਦੈਵੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭੀ ਲੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The angels, mortals and divine beings long for Him.

ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਕੀ ਲਗਹੁ ਸੇਵ ॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ) ।੩।
To find Him, commit yourself to the service of the Society of the Saints. ||3||

ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਕੀਆ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਭ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ, 
One whom the Primal Lord God blesses with His bounties,

ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
His state and extent cannot be described.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੪॥੯॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਬਤ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੯।

ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀ ॥
Dayv-Gandhaaree:

ਅਬ ਹਮ ਚਲੀ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ । 
Now, I have come, exhausted, to my Lord and Master.

ਜਬ ਹਮ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੀ ਆਈ ਰਾਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਹੁਣ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ, ਚਾਹੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਚਾਹੇ ਮਾਰ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਹਾਲ ਰੱਖ) ।
Now that I have come seeking Your Sanctuary, God, please, either save me, or kill me. ||1||Pause||

ਲੋਕਨ ਕੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਉਪਮਾ ਤੇ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਰਿ ॥
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ, ਤੇ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ—ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ । 
I have burnt in the fire the clever devices and praises of the world.

ਕੋਈ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹਉ ਹਮ ਤਨੁ ਦੀਓ ਹੈ ਢਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
 ਚਾਹੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਆਖੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੰਦਾ ਆਖੇ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਠਾਕੁਰ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਭੇਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Some speak good of me, and some speak ill of me, but I have surrendered my body to You. ||1||

ਜੋ ਆਵਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ । 
Whoever comes to Your Sanctuary, O God, Lord and Master, You save by Your Merciful Grace.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੪॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ਜੀ! ਹੇ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ।੨।੪।
Servant Nanak has entered Your Sanctuary, Dear Lord; O Lord, please, protect his honor! ||2||4||
