Sunday 4th December - Chaupai Sahib Jaap, Kirtan Darbar and Ardaas for the chardikala of Bhai Jagraj Singh and his family held at Siri Guru Singh Sabha Southall (Park Avenue). 
Qi-Rattan sang a select few Shabads requested by Bhai Jagraj Singh along with the Sadh Sangat to send out loving and healing prayers for his health. A truly memorable evening.

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥
Maajh, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਿਥੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Where the Naam, the Name of God the Beloved is chanted

ਸੇ ਅਸਥਲ ਸੋਇਨ ਚਉਬਾਰੇ ॥
those barren places become mansions of gold.

ਜਿਥੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਇਦਾ ਸੇਈ ਨਗਰ ਉਜਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥1॥
Where the Naam, the Name of my Lord of the Universe is not chanted-those towns are like the barren wilderness. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਰੁਖੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਇ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
One who meditates as he eats dry bread,

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥
sees the Blessed Lord inwardly and outwardly.

ਖਾਇ ਖਾਇ ਕਰੇ ਬਦਫੈਲੀ ਜਾਣੁ ਵਿਸੂ ਕੀ ਵਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥2॥
Know this well, that one who eats and eats while practicing evil, is like a field of poisonous plants. ||2||

ਸੰਤਾ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਲਾਏ ॥
One who does not feel love for the Saints,

ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਿਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
misbehaves in the company of the wicked shaaktas, the faithless cynics;

ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਖੋਈ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਜੜ ਅਪੁਣੀ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥3॥
he wastes this human body, so difficult to obtain. In his ignorance, he tears up his own roots. ||3||

ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
I seek Your Sanctuary, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek,

ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥
Ocean of Peace, my Guru, Sustainer of the world. 

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਮ ਅਸਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥4॥30॥37॥
Shower Your Mercy upon Nanak, that he may sing Your Glorious Praises; please, preserve my honor. ||4||30||37||

Guru Amar Das ji warns us about allowing people to fill our head with negativity against others. 

Bhai Baljit Singh goes through how we often get caught up in petty arguments that turn into something bigger, which often happens with the people we share our lives with. Many of times we end up speaking to people about our problems that are stuck in situations in their own lives leading to a negative outcome. Bhai Baljit Singh gives an example from his own life how he was guided by a Saint to be very selective about who he decides to spill his heart to. 

Guru Amar Das ji tells us that The Guru knows your inner-state, fall at the Guru’s feet and The Guru will guide you.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji taking it upon themselves brings our attention to how we get tired of instructing our mind and how it also doesn’t take on any advice. Instead it remains in the loophole of the same habits. Guru ji uses a famous example about how a dog's tail cannot be straightened, in the same way we do not change our ways. 

Bhai Baljit Singh helps us to understand how habits are formed and how to become conscious of the sequence a habit works in. Most often we are unaware of certain habits and go about living our life unconsciously but receiving the wisdom of something is like shining a light on it which helps us to make conscious decisions.

Guru Arjun Dev Ji gives us some examples of how we may go through extreme physical difficulties & suffering but tells us that the worst suffering of all is the mental suffering of anxiety. 

Guru Ji tells us that the only way out of this suffering is meditating on the Name of God taking us beyond the ego.

Bhai Baljit Singh tells a beautiful Sakhi towards the end of the Katha about an incident that took place with Baba Amar Das Ji whilst bringing water back in a metal pitcher for Guru Angad Dev Ji.

This Sakhi gives us all hope that it’s never too late and Vaheguru Ji will take us in no matter how much luggage of faults we are carrying.

ਸਲੋਕ ॥
Shalok:

ਮਨ ਇਛਾ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਣੰ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰਨਹ ॥

He grants our hearts' desires, and fulfills all our hopes.
ਖੰਡਣੰ ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸਹ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹ ਦੂਰਣਹ ॥੧॥

He destroys pain and suffering; remember God in meditation, O Nanak - He is not far away. ||1||
ਹਭਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਹਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੈ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਈਐ ਨੇਹੁ ॥

Love Him, with whom you enjoy all pleasures.
ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਬਿੰਦ ਨ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਰਚਿਆ ਦੇਹੁ ॥੨॥

Do not forget that Lord, even for an instant; O Nanak, He fashioned this beautiful body. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥
Pauree:

ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਦੀਨੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥
He gave you your soul, breath of life, body and wealth; He gave you pleasures to enjoy.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਰਥ ਅਸੁ ਦੀਏ ਰਚਿ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥

He gave you households, mansions, chariots and horses; He ordained your good destiny.
ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਵਨ ਜੋਗ ॥

He gave you your children, spouse, friends and servants; God is the all-powerful Great Giver.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਵਿਜੋਗ ॥

Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the body and mind are rejuvenated, and sorrow departs.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਮਹੁ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ॥੩॥

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, chant the Praises of the Lord, and all your sickness shall vanish. ||3||
