Japji Sahib English Explanation Katha of 23rd Pauri

This recording focuses on the 23rd Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Nanak Sahib states "Salahi Salahe, Eti Surat Na Paaiea". 

We look at four different  related meanings of this Pauri, from those who do not realise they need to praise God, to those who praise and merge, to those who do not give on praising regardless of hurdles and finally to those who realise the true point of prayer.  

We sing Vaheguru Simran and kirtan of "Khoob, Khoob, Khoob, Khoob, Khoob Tero Naam" and "Bhoole Maarag Jinneh Bataaeaa" by Guru Arjan Dev ji Maharaaj. The kirtan was done by a local Southall Amritdhari, Ravinderpal Singh 'Ramta'. 

With Guru's blessings, the SIKHI in English series will be going through the entire Sri Jap Ji Sahib, (the very first Bani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib) and trying understand it in English alongside singing Gurbani kirtan to help explain further.

Japji Sahib English Explanation Katha of 19th Pauri

This recording focuses on the 19th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Nanak Sahib states "Asankh Naav, Asankh Thaav". 

We discuss two different ways of understanding this pauri i.e, that 
Destiny that determines if we Jap Naam and also that letters and language was invented to praise Gods Name. 

We sing Vaheguru Simran and kirtan of "Sun Sun Jeeva Teri Baani" by Guru Arjan Dev ji Maharaaj. The kirtan was done by a British Born Kirtani, Ravinderpal Singh from Southall.

Japji Sahib English Explanation Katha of 18th Pauri

This recording focuses on the 18th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Nanak Sahib states "Asankh Moorakh Andh Ghor, Asankh Chor Haramkhor". 

We discuss the different ways of understanding this pauri including that which we must stay away from such lowly actions whilst also recognising that such desires exist within us too. 

We discuss the idea that Vaheguru is able to purify us and is ever forgiving, and sing kirtan of "Madho Hum Aise Tu Aisa" by Guru Arjan Patshah. The kirtan was done by Bhenji Navleen Kaur from Southall.

Guru Sahib also talks about the Divine will and the value of compassion in establishing Dharma, i.e Righteousness. 

We discuss the different meanings of Panch and of Dharam being the main mission of Sikhi. The kirtan was sung by a Southall based German Amritdhari Singh, SatSiri Singh, on the Rebab and Guitaar.

We go though all four pauris and discuss the different means of listening and the effect upon us of washing our soul of pains and sins to start to blossom. We sing Kirtan of the four pauris and do Vaheguru simran.

Japji Sahib English Explanation Katha of 7th Pauri

This recording focuses on the 7th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Sahib says "Je Jug Chare Aarjaa, Hor Dasooni Hoe". 

We look at how the things we value in life, i.e fame, power, long life are temporary and destined to disappear with Death. Then we look at what we should really value, i.e Gods Grace. 

We look at what Guruji describes is the state of someone who doesn't have earn this grace and how respect/fear is a part of love. We also look at whether spiritually advanced people should have pride? 

We sing Kirtan of ""Prabh Keejai Kripa Nidhaan" in and sing Vaheguru simran. 

The kirtan was sung in Raag with Tanti Saaj (traditional instruments) like Rebab, Dilruba, Santoor and Jori by the amazing "Gursevak Kirtani Jatha" from Warwick.
