Japji Sahib English Explanation Katha of 28th Pauri

This recording focuses on the 28th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Nanak Sahib states "Munda Santokh Saram, Pat Jholi, Dhiaan ki Kare Bibhoot". 

We look at the qualities that Guruji recommends to the yogis and to us, his Sikhs. We examine what true contentment can be, the importance of faith and meditation as well as what it means to conquer the mind and win the world.

We sing Vaheguru Simran and kirtan of "Ddagmag Chaad Re Man Boura" by Bhagat Kabeer ji. 

The kirtan was done by Harbhajan Singh from Slough (previously from Afghanistan). 

With Guru's blessings, the SIKHI in English series will be going through the entire Sri Jap Ji Sahib, (the very first Bani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib) and trying understand it in English alongside singing Gurbani kirtan to help explain further.

Japji Sahib English Katha - 28th Pauri - Contentment, Faith and Conquering the Mind

Japji Sahib English Explanation Katha of 26th Pauri

This recording focuses on the 26th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Nanak Sahib states "Amul Gun, Amul Vaapaar". 

We look at why Guru Nanak Dev tells us that the heavenly qualities, the trader, the traders and the store of Naam is priceless, i.e because although we have to offer ourselves in exchange for it, even that is really originally Gods gift.  

We look at what our focus should be, i.e to say Vaheguru's Name and merge with the One. 

We sing Vaheguru Simran and kirtan of "Kabir, Mera Mujh Me Kish Nahi, Jo Kich hai So Tera" by Bhagat Kabir ji. 

The kirtan was done by Jasraj SIngh from Crawley, South London, part of the Kent University Kirtani Association of Sikhs.

This video focuses on the second part of the 21st Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Nanak Sahib states "Suast Aath Baani Barmao". 
We discuss the limit of hukam knowledge about Creation and about the Infiniteness of the Universe. 

We discuss Guruji's teachings about the origin of the universe, the multiverse, time before time began and cyclic theory of creation. We relate this to what our actual focus in life should be, i.e going inside and service of humanity.

We sing Vaheguru Simran and kirtan of "Ji Bhemande Soi Pinde, Jo Khoje So Paae" by Bhagat Peepa. The kirtan was done by a British Sikh from London in Raag Kirtan playing the Sarangi.

Japji Sahib English Explanation Katha of 21st Pauri (1 of 2)

This recording focuses on the first part of the 21st Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Nanak Sahib states "Tirath, Tap, Daeaa Dat Daan, Je Ko Paavai Til Ka Maan". 

We discuss the futility of rituals (karam kand) and or have desires (vaashna) when doing them. We look at guru's method for freeing ourselves of desire and thus getting true purity. This can only be by listening, accepting, following and feeling the Love of God and experiencing Vaheguru inside ourselves. The 'Har Ras' (Taste of God) will overpower our lower desires and the love and surrender to the divine comes with it. 

We discuss the Love of Guru Angad for Guru Nanak and the story of Bhai Samman ji, the favourite Sikh of Guru Arjan. 

We also talk about concepts like Mindfullness and living in the infinite present moment.  

We sing Vaheguru Simran and kirtan of "Ehu Har Ras Paave Jan Koe, Amrit Peevai Amar So Hoe" by Guru Arjan Dev ji Maharaaj. 

The kirtan was done by a Russian born Amritdhari, Sukhmani Kaur who lives in London and produces books for Sikh kids (www.mightykhalsa.com and www.facebook.com/mighty.khalsa.books).

This recording focuses on the second half of the 16th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Nanak sahib describes the absurdity of a mythical bull holding up the Earth. 

Guruji then goes on to talk about the real power that established the Universe with just one Word, and that Vahegurus beauty and gifts to us are beyond measure. 

Guruji then shows what our approach should be, i.e to focus on accepting the hukam, trying to earn Grace of that Eternal and Formless Creator. 

The kirtan was sung by a Southall based German Amritdhari Singh, SatSiri Singh, on the Rebab and Guitar.

This recording focuses on the first half of the 16th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Sahib describes the Panch, the supreme Ones who both listen and follow. 

Guru Sahib also talks about the Divine will and the value of compassion in establishing Dharma, i.e Righteousness. 

We discuss the different meanings of Panch and of Dharam being the main mission of Sikhi. The kirtan was sung by a Southall based German Amritdhari Singh, SatSiri Singh, on the Rebab and Guitaar.

Japji Sahib English Explanation Katha of 7th Pauri

This recording focuses on the 7th Pauri of Sri Jap Ji Sahib where Guru Sahib says "Je Jug Chare Aarjaa, Hor Dasooni Hoe". 

We look at how the things we value in life, i.e fame, power, long life are temporary and destined to disappear with Death. Then we look at what we should really value, i.e Gods Grace. 

We look at what Guruji describes is the state of someone who doesn't have earn this grace and how respect/fear is a part of love. We also look at whether spiritually advanced people should have pride? 

We sing Kirtan of ""Prabh Keejai Kripa Nidhaan" in and sing Vaheguru simran. 

The kirtan was sung in Raag with Tanti Saaj (traditional instruments) like Rebab, Dilruba, Santoor and Jori by the amazing "Gursevak Kirtani Jatha" from Warwick.
