ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰੇਂ,
Serving the Guru, devotional worship is practiced.

ਤਬ ਇਹ ਮਾਨਸ ਦੇਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-ਸਰੀਰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਮਝ । 
Then, this human body is obtained.

ਇਸ ਦੇਹੀ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਦੇਵ ॥
ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭੀ ਤਾਂਘਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Even the gods long for this human body.

ਸੋ ਦੇਹੀ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ (ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ, ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ ।੧।
So vibrate that human body, and think of serving the Lord. ||1||

ਭਜਹੁ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦ ਭੂਲਿ ਮਤ ਜਾਹੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੋ, ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਭੁਲਾ ਨਾਹ ਦੇਣੀ । 
Vibrate, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe, and never forget Him.

ਮਾਨਸ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਏਹੀ ਲਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਇਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਖੱਟੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
This is the blessed opportunity of this human incarnation. ||1||Pause||

ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜਰਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ-ਰੂਪ ਰੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਗਿਆ,
As long as the disease of old age has not come to the body,

ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਕਾਲਿ ਗ੍ਰਸੀ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਇਆ ॥
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਪਕੜਿਆ, 
and as long as death has not come and seized the body,

ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਬਿਕਲ ਭਈ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨ ਥਿੜਕਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ,
and as long as your voice has not lost its power,

ਭਜਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
(ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ ਲੈ ।੨।
O mortal being, vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the World. ||2||

ਅਬ ਨ ਭਜਸਿ ਭਜਸਿ ਕਬ ਭਾਈ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਐਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਭਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਕਦੋਂ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ?
If you do not vibrate and meditate on Him now, when will you, O Sibing of Destiny?

ਆਵੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਭਜਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੌਤ (ਸਿਰ ਤੇ) ਆ ਅੱਪੜੀ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਭਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇਗਾ ।
When the end comes, you will not be able to vibrate and meditate on Him.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਅਬ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਭਜਨ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਤੂੰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੁਣੇ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਲੈ, (ਜੇ ਸਮਾ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ) ਤਾਂ ਮੁੜ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਹੀ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ,
Whatever you have to do - now is the best time to do it.

ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਹੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਪਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
ਤੇ ਇਸ ਪਛਤਾਵੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ।੩।
Otherwise, you shall regret and repent afterwards, and you shall not be carried across to the other side. ||3||

ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੋ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੇਵ ॥
(ਪਰ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ?) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
He alone is a servant, whom the Lord enjoins to His service.

ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਪਾਏ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ॥
ਉਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
He alone attains the Immaculate Divine Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਖੁਲੇ੍ ਕਪਾਟ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਕਵਾੜ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ,
Meeting with the Guru, his doors are opened wide,

ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੋਨੀ ਬਾਟ ॥੪॥
ਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ (ਮਰਨ) ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ।੪।
and he does not have to journey again on the path of reincarnation. ||4||

ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਰ ॥
ਇਹੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ (ਇੱਥੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਸਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਣਾ) ।
This is your chance, and this is your time.

ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਤੂ ਦੇਖੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲੈ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-ਜਨਮ ਹੀ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ,
Look deep into your own heart, and reflect on this.

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਕੈ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੂਕ ਕੂਕ ਕੇ ਦੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ,
Says Kabeer, you can win or lose.

ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਹਿਓ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥੫॥੧॥੯॥
(ਤੇਰੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ) ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਜਾਹ ਚਾਹੇ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਹ । ।੫।੧।੯।
In so many ways, I have proclaimed this out loud. ||5||1||9||
