CYBEREIGN,  AKA Sean Higgins, has been creating underground electro for many years now. He has collaborated and remixed with some of the underground's greats such as Heidi Sabertooth, Francois Dillinger, Fleck ESC, Dark Vektor, TECHcontrol, and W1b0, to name a few. He has also had releases under the guise of Cybernet 1202 and The Chillbots. He is currently working on further projects with other artists as he continues his journey through the sound cosmos.

For this episode of @DarkScienceElectro we check in with friend-of-the-show Rob Witschakowski, better known as @The-Exaltics

Starting in 2006 with the founding of the project by Nico Jagiella and Rob, The Exaltics have been a driving force in the popularization of the beloved genre we call Electro. The following year in 2007, after the inception of The Exaltics project, the duo created the label @Solar_One_Music - The imprint has released music from many amazing producers such as MSRG, Heinrich Mueller, Gesloten Cirkel, Obergman, Franck Kartell, Nullptr, Das Muster, ERP, Ekman, Gosub, and many more. In addition, there are a few sub-labels that are utilized as well, such as Between Places, Rattleznake, Unhöerbar. Beau Crouch aka b0t23 first started djing in 1998 in California. It started with drum n Bass, break beats, and Acid music in a variety of styles played at warehouse raves and outdoor parties. He became affiliated with groups like Moontribe and the Experimental Liquor Museum w/ Trichome, Ben Milstein, and more.

He began some production in 2003 and has individual tracks on Touchin' bass run by Andrea Parker, Pyramid Transmissions run by ADJ, and Portland Oregon label Buried in Time, where he currently resides with his wife and son. Recently has launched his own digital label called Patterned Media which can be found at patternedmedia.bandcamp.com .

1. Which artists have influenced you the most?

- Pink Floyd, Aphex Twin, Autechre, The Orb, Eat Static, Digitalis, Soul Oddity/Phoenecia, 4e/Khan, Tipper, Luke Vibert, RAC, and more

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- Working on collaborations with Inoperative System from Spain called "Reticle" and with California dj Bartek Industries under the name "Limit B" which has already had tracks on Patterned Media. There is one unreleased, unmastered Limit B tune on this mix. Potentially some of my own b0t23 music will release in the next year, but nothing finished at the moment.

What inspires you now to create music?

- I have no other choice, I am compelled to do it and if I go too long without being creative, I get depressed. Even though I do not release much music or put out many dj mixes, I am always "messing around". Sometimes I get tired of my working alone and reach out to collaborate. This has helped feel connected during the global pandemic that changed our world. Other than electro I recently did a glitchy hip hop and dub dj mix because I love that style as well.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- For djing, I will use my Technics 1200 turntables, which I have had since 1998, but also dj software like Traktor or Ableton. For production, most tracks are composed in Logic Audio on a MAC. I also have hardware such as the Elektron Model: Samples, Analog Rytm, Behringer TB-3, Modal Industries Cobalt 8, Hologram Microcosm, and more.
