Originally from the US and now residing in Spain, a musical veteran with a career spanning more than a decade, it's safe to say Bukkha runs things when it comes to fuelling sound systems. On top of his long-standing involvement in the thunderous Moonshine Rec. discography, the prolific artist maintains a consistent record of top-shelf releases on numerous famed record labels within the global melting pot of Dub-influenced dance music, including System Music, Dub-Stuy, Lion Charge, and so on. His 'In Roots Vol. 1' debut LP features seven talented guest artists from around the globe, the extended Dub family in full force and effect - connected to Bukkha through previous projects, shared tours and overall engagement in the scene. The symbiotic nature of the collaborations can be heard and felt as big stacks of speakers lend their voice to the musical message. Rebellious sounds for the healing of the nation. In a conscious stepper style, the release marches through original future classics - whether instrumental or led by the Rastafarian teachings of Mowty Mahlyka, anthem brass melodies by JahWind All-Stars, harmonica meditation by Hazeldub or Don Fe's notoriously brilliant flute virtuosity. With true to the roots delay and reverb effects in the original Dub fashion, the album pays tribute to the technique pioneered by the likes of King Tubby, nothing less than a next-generation torchbearer. Sound system music, as timeless as its cultural heritage.

We're very happy to present you a new 12" record which is comin' from non other than
the mad talented producer duo Smalltowndubz from Austria. For the My Garden EP them
got some cool international dub artists, who joined forces to bring you this heavyweight
soundsystem smasher. The main tune My Garden comes in a hot dubwise style and
features Tenor Youthman on the microphone, who brings down some hot lyrics. Another
sure shot for any selection. On top we have a deep Remix from the man called Jah Schulz
and Tribuman plays the horns - you just have to feel this wonderful combination.
We continue the vibes on the B-Side with two original productions by Smalltowndubz, which
shows the variety of their musical style. Mad Thing is an UK inspired steppers killer, that you
have to listen on a big soundsystem. The other track is called Rooted and features our
family member Hazel Dub on melodica. This one is a deep and heavy bass bomb, which
enters your mind and instantly wants you to play that record on repeat.
For next level pressure, we hooked up again with LXC to do that heavy mastering on
all tunes.

This record is dedicated to all soundsystem lovers around the world, who missed that
feeling to dance in front of big speaker boxes.

2017 was a serious year for Von D, with releases on a number of great labels including our long-format imprint Khaliphonic, plus Amar, Moonshine, Lion Charge and more - and it's not over yet!  For ZamZam, Von D has delivered “Over” - a brooding, burning 140 anthem providing serious heat as we head into the dark winter months.  

“Over” features a powerful half-time reggae riddim built from Von D’s signature warm, enveloping bass and restrained but powerful drums.  Tambourine and guiro add flavor while the snares slap, and Meekman’s kete drum rocks throughout, adding a swing and live feeling missing from many contemporary in-the-box sound system tunes.  Melodica and synth skank in unison, underpinning a dizzying spread of analog signals & sonics.

With reality lyrics straight from Kingston JA courtesy of Shamarie Kamar Bogle AKA Digital Sham, the tune is brought to a boil with heady verbal vapors on poverty, struggle, corruption, daily stresses caused by the political shitstem, and the inevitable end of the wickedness that is so prevalent in these times.  

The dub version spools out the echoes and forwards the kete drum in fine style, displaying brilliant filter-sweep moves and reverbs so luscious the space they define seems to breathe.  “Chalice Overdubs” also features gorgeous guitar work starting halfway through, adding another melodic, rhythmic and textural element for much more than a simple version.  

Mastered by Sam at Precise, released late November, 2017. Limited to 800 7" vinyl copies for the world.  Design & screen print by Polygon Press.  No repress, no digital.
