InsideInfo, Audio, Skantia, Gydra, Joe Ford, Smooth &amp; DC Breaks, Madster, The Outsiders, Dub Elements… That awesome feeling when your dream post-lockdown rave line-up matches the rollcall on this ridiculous remix package of Droptek’s 2019 debut album ‘Symbiosis’. All these weeks and
weeks and weeks of pent up frustration are about to be unleashed by some of the top insurgents from across drum 'n bass.

Reload: ‘Symbiosis’ dropped, April 2019. A deeply personal body of work for young UK artist Lewis Munns, the album was a bold statement of intent that galvanised his transition from 140-oriented music to something a little faster, spicier, slicker and deadlier and showed he was here to stay. It was a strong move for the label, too. At the time Korsakov Music were only four releases deep, but the label bossman AL/SO was so inspired by the album, he had to release it… And, more importantly, do it justice.

Justice was served: Noisia, Mefjus, Koven, Camo &amp; Krooked, Black Sun Empire, Muzz and Levela all hammered the originals, ensuring the album’s status as one of the most accomplished D&B LP debuts of the year. Now, 15 months later, it’s time for a whole new hammering. Once again, an all-star cast of D&B protagonists are involved.

Nine versions heavy, ‘Symbiosis Remixed’ takes Droptek’s signature gritty, sharp-edged tech funk and places it in the hands of a wide-ranging collective of artists who are all in exciting, inspired places in their career. Joe Ford’s opening take on ‘Sentient’ is a perfect example as it sets the tone in that purring, restrained way he’s become loved for. Many more examples follow: Russian neuro royalty Gydra go all-out ruffhouse funk on ‘Devoid’, Skantia showcases his stripped-back techno tendencies on ‘Extrapolate’, Audio goes all halftime hurter on ‘Comply’ and InsideInfo blends about five fiery flavours on ‘Minutiae’ in that one-of-a-kind trip way only he knows how. The list goes on…
Each remix capturing best essence of Droptek’s original while taking it in a whole new direction and ensuring his album continues to be done justice long after its release.

Following the huge success of his debut album ‘Caligo’, Spor has hooked up with powerhouse producer Memtrix to present ‘Memtrix & Spor: Darkest Hours’ forthcoming on Sotto Voce/Lifted Music.  The track will be released on 14th September. 

‘Darkest Hours’ begins with a stream of deep cinematic melodies progressing into a melting pot of cutting-edge bass sonics and crisp drum grooves; accompanied by ambient vocals. The B-side entitled ‘Super Trace’ unfolds as a dark roller combined with sharp percussion sounds, certain to get a dance floor moving.

With over 1 million views on his track ‘All You Are’ on YouTube and over 5 releases under his belt at the age of 19, this is the start of a long journey in the world of drum & bass for Memtrix. "Working with Spor has definitely been an eye opening and insightful experience,” he says, “but I think more than that it's just been really fun. It always seems really natural and fluent in the studio and we bounce ideas off each other really well I think. Obviously it's an absolute privilege for me to work with such a household name who's work I respect so much, and this release is something I'm really proud of and excited about."

With ADE looming on the horizon, it only seemed apt for Ram to yet again provide the perfect drum and bass entrée for Europe’s premium dance event. Set to bring another stellar line up from their roster, this compilation packed full of exclusives helps to epitomise the imprint’s legacy within dance music. Including brand new cuts, demonstrating the Ram’s longevity, this album plays homage to two decades of output. 

Leading you deeper into the dark side of 2015, this year’s Ramsterdam compilation not only pedestals the artists who’ve made such a titanic impact throughout the last ten months, but also the emerging talent from sister label Program and Ram’s newest signees. Whether it’s the old school, growling riddim from Aggressor Bunx, or Calyx & TeeBee’s tell-tale, trembling bassline, each track gives the album a unique vantage point.

Featuring on the collosal track listing is Delta Heavy; an exclusive which relays their elevating, pumping composition, it’s a dancefloor banger sure to detonate any crowd. And Frankee also makes a welcomed return, following the release of his anticipated single ‘Downtown’. ‘Raptor’ is unforgiving, snapped up by different animalistic samples and stridently aggressive – pedestalling Frankee’s unforgiving production standards.

On a totally different vibe, Freek is back with ‘Born Different’, a clanking yet powerful number, one which gears up into LFO-lead chaos with snapping percussion between each break. Brand new music from production outfits Teddy Killerz and Mind Vortex also make a very valuable addition, proving their unbridled talent, with merciless yet complex records that are fierce and gagging to be let loose on Amsterdam’s clubs.  
Two of this year’s most resounding tracks from the Ram camp, Bensley’s ‘Aftermath’ and Gerra & Stone’s ‘L.I.E.S.’ have also received revamps, providing two anticipated VIPs already igniting sets worldwide. Loadstar also deliver the goods; brand new heavy-hitter ‘Dune’ demonstrates exactly why they’ve become such revered names across the genre.

So, here’s to another Amsterdam Dance Event. One with a soundtrack provided by one of the most enduring labels, and stellar rosters, that dance music has played host to. And with Ram also holding a night this October, from first listen onwards prepare to be immerse yourself in Ram’s vast musical environment.
