Sweet Harmony is a project by Rendezvous Projects, which explores, captures and celebrates an undocumented period of music heritage and youth culture in the London Borough of Waltham Forest from 1989 to 1994.

Founder Mike Stone and DJ Linden C share their memories.

First transmitted in 1989, Dance FM was on air for about two and half years
on 93.0 FM. Mike Stone, Reggie Reg, Rodney T, Justin Murray and Leslie Grant
all ran the station together. It broadcast from various locations in Walthamstow, including Whitebeam Tower, Northwood Tower, Erskine Road and Fleeming Road.

About that Bass is an interview series created with the intent to highlight artists I admire in the Drum and Bass scene.  We explore their stories, challenges, processes, advice, and perspectives.  

This interview highlights Flaco!

Flaco is a Drum and Bass producer/DJ who’s production discography catalog could rival some overseas producers.  Growing up in Florida he started writing tunes in 2000 when his obsession for Drum and Bass first started, then moved to the west coast where he resides in San Francisco, getting incredible inspiration from R&B, house, early techno, and soul.  His aim is to get people on the dance floor and once you hear his tunes, his productions do just that. Flaco has signed music to over 20 international labels including Innerground, Good Looking, V Recordings, and Co-Lab, to name a few. Flaco has an extraordinary style of production and is one of the best Liquid producers coming out of America.  His personal dubs are not to be missed.

Bass Scoops Radio in conversation with West Norwood Cassette Library’s Bob Bhamra. Since starting Bass Scoops, Bob has been on the list as someone we really  wanted to sit down with and hear about his fantastic career. He graciously gave us his time to get deep into the workings and experiences of being a producer, DJ and label boss. WNCL since 2010 has been spanning genres and putting out innovative house, breaks, techno, dubstep and what I’d call just damn fine music, defying genres boundaries and never following the herd. Bob talks about the label, DJ’ing, his inspirations, observations and stories from a great career in UK electronic music that is  thankfully not showing any signs of slowing down soon.

Bass Scoops Radio in conversation with Catherine Backhouse, the artist known as Xylitol. I first ever  heard Xylitol this year playing live  at StrangeBrew in Bristol as part of the Tudor Acid’s Electro Café night. OMG  was this a live set  to behold!!! , absolute amen fuelled  breakbeat tearout bizness paired  with lush ambient sonics. As soon as Xylitol came off stage I rushed over to talk her into an interview  for Bass Scoops which she kindly agreed to do. In this show we have mixed in some  standout tracks and  we get to hear about the Krautrock - Jungle connection , the technical detail behind her fantastic productions, the Eastern European electronica radio show and more.
