With the release of his 9 Track Project “Sonatine”, he trades soul samples for cutting synths, without deserting the hard drums and snapping snares of his previous work. The cross-genre project pushes the envelope forming a sound replicating the marriage of hip hop, electro, drum & bass and house. The EP's first single release, Not Feeling Well, is layered with strings, synths and powerful drums, providing listeners a futuristic and experimental vibe with a not-hard-to-miss hip hop bounce.

M31RK has made a notable change from his previous work, choosing to experiment with new genre of music that is increasing in popularity daily. “I needed people to know that I’m more than just a traditional hip hop producer. I love the idea of experimenting with new sounds to further expand my style. Rappers and singers have been known to change styles pretty frequently, why can’t producers? Just like artists, producers have new influences and experiment with new sounds which breeds innovation.”

 For the second installment of Moovmnt’s monthly Dutch producer series, ‘Werk Space’, they invited Moods to the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam.
Each month they invite a producer from the Netherlands to showcase his artistry and challenge him to work in an amazingly fruitful environment.

The Red Bull Studios Amsterdam is a state-of-the-art recording and production facility, where renowned and up-and-coming artists, are provided with everything they need in order to celebrate and create music!
 
Moovmnt invited the alluring SIAM from Ghent (Belgium) to lay down some amazing vocals and managed to record and mix everything within a day. Her jazzy style of singing fits perfectly on our newly created song entitled “Organic”.

Working on opposite sides of the landmass we call Canada, Vancouver/Montreal duo Potatohead People (producers Nick Wisdom & AstroLogical) have been making waves for quite some time with their signature jazzy boom-bap meets boogie inside the bassbin vibes. Called a “formidable tandem” by OkayPlayer, their sounds have been championed early on by the likes of Kaytranada, Soulection, Nightmares on Wax, Pomo, Exmag, Big Boi, and Phife Dawg. After a few early releases on Vancouver based netlabel Jellyfish Recordings, Brooklyn’s Bastard Jazz reissued their 2012 landmark Kosmichemusik EP and pressed a 7” which quickly became a collector’s item. The association landed their song “Back To My Sh*t” (featuring Frank Nitty of Frank’n’Dank) on a Powerade produced LeBron James documentary and Nick and Astro began working on a debut LP for Bastard Jazz, presented here.

Big Luxury draws from influences disparate as classic jazz, prog rock, disco, 90’s hip-hop, DJ Shadow-Era downtempo beats, alongside modern influences like the Brainfeeder crew and new electronic movements coming out of Nick Wisdom’s adopted hometown of Montreal.  What’s resulted is a finely honed, extra buttery album that effortly glides between tempos, but never loses the mood.  The album also features a whole host of guest vocalists -  J Dilla’s younger brother Illa J, legendary Canadian MC Moka Only, New Zealand’s Sorceress, and Amalia all provide contributions to the sounds within.  The album will set the tone for the duo’s big moves this year, including forthcoming collaborations with Illa J and Pomo as well as tour dates in North America and beyond. 

Big Luxury is a velvety ride through vibes and a magnificent debut for these talented young Canadians.
