Flexi with the Disco-tech is a very jazzy and funky tune that comes from the Swedish duo Duoya. Part of their up-coming debut album titled International FM (Funk Machine). The song was written and recorded by the two musicians during the lockdown while respecting the social distancing, they were never in the same room. Sending their own recordings back and forth they still managed to make it sound like a whole band was playing the song live.
The song will transpose you on a night club during the 70’s on the lighting up disco dancing floor. Where you’ll be compelled to burst into dancing and showing off your wildest moves.

Balancing his time between working as a touring drummer & creating his own music at home in Brooklyn, Steve Bryant, p/k/a Cru the Dynamic, draws influence from a wide range of musical settings. His experience behind the kit influences his production style as much as his live playing is informed by the electronically produced beats of hip-hop, drum n’ bass, trap and footwork.

Bryant follows up 2017’s The Quick EP, with Cuts, his first full length album on Detroit’s YHS Records. Cuts, drawing its name from the micro-sliced samples peppered throughout many of the tracks, blends the skittering rhythms of footwork with the head-nod inducing half-time pulse of hip-hop. Digital and analogue intersect in this body of work from an artist who has his feet firmly planted in both worlds.

Throughout the 37-minute journey, club-ready bangers like “Passive Fist” and “Now Put ‘em Out” are nestled between epic compositions such as “Safe Party” and “Drunk Duke”, while low-key coolers “Learnin & Earnin” and “T Daze” provide breathers from the breakneck pace of this album. Strap in, “Cuts” is both a euphoric and dizzying ride.

“Shade Fader” is the slow-burning new single from RUMTUM. This release sees the artist deftly blend shimmering synths with a thoughtful bass-line to create a fresh and contemplative track, but one grounded in a retro, synthpop sensibility. Electronic producer and instrumental enthusiast John Hastings (aka RUMTUM) has a unique approach to crafting his melodic tunes. The Cleveland native offers a broad frequency, and whether it be his love for native spirits or sea life, the natural world plays a significant role in the dynamics of his writing. From a young age his obsession for mixers and knobs grew into a passion for recording with found objects and handmade instruments. And while learning drums provided the musical foundation to understand bass and guitar, a fascination with synthesizers and explorations into field recordings continues to inspire his craft.

RUMTUM's new single "Borealis" plugs you right into a VHS tape memory of running your fingers through tall grass and wading shorelines of saturated memories. The recursive CS80 Arps and sanguine bassline carry a feeling that something greater is happening around you, maybe a galactic change or memories being played back on a walkman. It's clear this dreamy and colorful track channels an aleatoric vibe.  

"Borealis" is the second single from RUMTUM's new album "Isles in Indigo" - dropping mid March on Bastard Jazz. The album is the landing point where the story beginnings for musician and visual artist RUMTUM. While living in Hawaii and studying the coral reef around south Kona for two months the LP was recorded on samplers and a Tascam tape deck. Returning to the mainland with only saturated rough drafts influenced this over-saturated lost island tape vibe. The recordings were finished at a mountain home in southern Colorado during the worldwide shutdown of COVID-19, it was an odd time to work on such an uplifting and mystical concept but allowed for escapism at its best.
