Youssra is a young Egyptian singer, actor and radio host. She had a viral hit with her first song "El Soor", dealing with the walls that were build in central Cairo to block off Tahir Square. "Ghareeb An El Medina" was produced by Oddisee and remixed by Brenk at Mohsen Matri Studios in Tunis, Tunisia.

A little less then three years ago the political situation in many countries of the Arab world changed dramatically. Uprisings started in rural areas of Tunisia and from there spread to various countries in the region. Millions gathered in the streets united by their demand for more democracy, rights and participation in the political process. In most cases the reaction of the governing dictators were relentless and severe towards every form of protests. Violence in the streets of Cairo, Tunis and Bengasi escalated and resulted in the overthrow of the governments in Tunisia, Egypt and Lybia.
A year later a group of female singers and musicians from Tunisia (Nawel Ben Kraiem, Badiaa Bouhrizi, Medusa, Houwaida), Libya (Nada) and Egypt (Donia Massoud, Maryam Saleh, Youssra El Hawary) met in Mohsen Matri Studio in Tunis to sing- against corruption, despotism, patronization and narrow-mindedness. The song with Syrian artist Rasha Rizk was recorded some months later in her political asylum in Cairo. Sudanese/American producer Oddisee and Olof Dreijer of the Swedish pop duo The Knife joined the session, participating in the creation of the musical backdrop as well as the often multi-instrumentalist female singers. For the vinyl edition producers such as Brenk, Blackjoy and Blundetto contributed remix versions of the project.

"Sawtuha" (Arabic for "her voice"), the album that is the product of the 2-week session, is a vital encouraging testament of rebellion against the repression of democratic rights, gender inequality, and lack of inclusion. The music is an organic mixture of traditional Arabic music, regional influences and various forms of contemporary Western musical genres. A mixture that may sound contradicting at first but makes total sense once you listen to the music.

The studio session was organized by the Berlin based NGO MICT (Media In Cooperation And Transition) and was funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.

Evolution is a fuzzy thing when it comes to electronic dance music, especially when left in the hands of certain DJ’s. From experimental to disco to pop to house and everything in between and to come, the mutation is the now and new. Known for mutations of her own, MAGDA, the Berlin resident DJ and producer, brings her influences and creations full circle in this runway soundtrack act SHE’S A DANCING MACHINE. Through over thirty tracks of classic and fresh as hell dance burners, the selection and style is reflective yet reactive to what “minimal” music and mix albums ought to create. From robotic hustles to disco house sprinkler moves and electro-tech windmills, Magda turns the years back to phuture.

Equal parts perspiration and inspiration, SHE’S A DANCING MACHINE delivers with micro-edits, custom loops and lofty effects, born out of her DJ ascension from beating the bits out of her Final Scratch in clubs. The mix has the range you’d expect with top shelf artists included such as Metro Area, Ricardo Villalobos, Marc Houle and Robert Babicz and sets up some surprises from decades past by dropping in Larry Heard and Portion Control. Amongst personal favorites from The Persuader (Svek’s Jesper Dahlbäck) she’s not afraid to loop in her own productions from Minus and her new label (along with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce), Items & Things.

SHE’S A DANCING MACHINE paints the experience and attitude from a night with Magda in control at the decks. Since the turn of the millennium she’s been building a steady fan base throughout Europe, North America and Japan with a few residencies built by demand, charming us along the way with a smile. Magda has taken the chosen not given path of a DJ with a mission- searching, finding and carving her own path from being a slave to the rhythm.

To work up a hunger is okay, but there sure are some good eats with Musik Krause. In February Metaboman will ‚krause‘ his debut album out. Beforehand, there is the digital apertif of two filling songs to taste and savor, served fresh from Krause Duo members. The one is a is to be taken and served alongside the main course. The other is here exclusively as an apetizer. What has been said about too many cooks ruin the dish isnt always the case.

Appetit holen ist ok, aber gegessen wird bei Musikkrause... Im Februar kraust Metaboman sein Debütalbum raus. Vorab gibt es als digitalen Aperitif  zwei gehaltvolle Lieder zum kosten und genießen vom Krause Duo Member frisch serviert. Das Eine wird auch zum anfassen &  verspeisen beim Hauptgericht angrichtet. Das Andere gibt es nur hier exklusiv als Vorspeise. Es heisst: Viele Köche verderben den Brei. Das stimmt nicht, zumindest nicht in der Musik. Zu jedem Stück hat sich Metaboman Gastköche in seine Küche geladen.
