In a relatively short space of time, @talik1 has built a reputation as one of the most distinctive of the new breed of UK electronic music innovators.

Brooding, richly textured, and intricately polyrhythmic, Talik’s unique style has caught attention from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs & Marie Montexier. She’s also been championed by Martyn, who’s become both a mentor and a friend - releasing her music on his label 3024 and remixing ‘Cold Silver’ from her debut EP on Intercept Records.

As a longstanding member of the CF family, Talik’s debut on the label feels long overdue, but this collection is well worth the wait. Deep, percussive and snarling, with a powerful low end emphasis, the release taps into a rich vein of bass music heritage with a fresh new take.

Rounding off this impressive 4 tracker, Intercept label mate @french_ii joins on remix duties, bringing the BPMs up for an explosive 160 rework of ‘Wood & Water’. Essential CF tackle!

The track starts with a focus on the stumbling beat and gradually evolves into a supersonic vibe, supported by a flangey dub melody and the aesthetic of fluttering forward and backward-played hi-hat sequences. A repetitive humanoid voice subliminally communicates through confusing number sequences.
"Vertigo" is an outstanding composition that merges the stylistic elements of different genres.

Melbourne's Pugilist opens the gates with 'Flip Trix.' It's a dub-drenched, broken techno hybrid with earth-shattering low-end throughout. This lengthy 130bpm track, with foggy breaks and frosty pads, smartly concludes on a 4x4 beat to ensure a smooth exit. 'Flip Trix' is certainly a future percy for all.

Decoys explore the ways that internal perception distorts and develops as it navigates the fluid boundaries of the self. The EP’s title invokes the distracting and alluring elements of an incomplete double—an illusion that, upon closer inspection, uncovers something perhaps even deeper than its originating source. The title track pairs driving rhythms with dark, rustling atmospheres and layers of competing bass punctured by the screech of unidentifiable machines to create a relentless forward momentum with no clear destination. “Imitation Body” layers found sound to assemble a beat that pushes and pulls with a distinct swing, anchored by ghost-like ambiance and an insistent low end. On “Fear Of Others,” paranoia and uncertainty channel into a chest-rattling dubstep excursion. As the track shifts between two distinct moods, the elements anchoring it mutate and shift. The EP closes with “Respite,” a breathy half-time closer accented by bursts of frenetic sound and warbling bass, as though the music itself is resisting disintegration.
