In 2004 studeerde Bart aan het Gentse Conservatorium af als meester in de muziek – optie klassiek. Nadien vervolmaakte hij zich bij Brandt Attema aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Den Haag en volgde masterclasses bij diverse bastrombonisten uit Nederland, Hongarije, Scandinavië en de Verenigde Staten. In zijn jonge carrière heeft hij al heel wat muzikale watertjes doorzwommen. Hij is fulltime aan het werk in de muziekacademies van Lede, Leuven en Lier, en is daarnaast ook actief als freelance muzikant. U kon hem onder meer al horen met het Nationaal Orkest van België, de Vlaamse Opera, het Brussels Philharmonic, het Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, het RadioFilharmonisch Orkest van Nederland en het Nederlands Blazersensemble. Zijn samenwerkingen met het Brussels Jazz Orchestra en Jambangle getuigen van zijn tweede liefde: de jazz. In 2004 richtte hij met het Tuesday Night Orchestra zijn eigen bigband op.

It might be unexpected but the Brussels Jazz Orchestra (BJO) is not the kind of jazz orchestra that sticks to standards. We prefer to achieve the highest level by composing original music, creating unique arrangements and playing inventively as well as passionately. In fact, it really is jazz with a dynamic orchestral sound, with a classic strength in which each musician is also a brilliant soloist.
