This is a brief test with a custom Alnico V Black Hawk 7 bridge pickup installed into my Dæmoness 7-string. It's pretty much the purriest pickup I've ever heard! I'm planning on repeating the same clip with a ceramic Black Hawk 7 to compare the two magnet types. 

This zip file contains the guitar DIs for both the Alnico and Ceramic Black Hawk, along with a drum and bass backing track so you can evaluate the pickups through your own rig of choice and hear them in context.

This is a brief test with the Ceramic Black Hawk 7 bridge pickup installed into my Dæmoness 7-string, in comparison with the custom Alnico V version demonstrated in this clip: http://soundcloud.com/nolly/alnico-black-hawk-7-test

To my ears, the comparison exemplifies the difference in character when moving between an Alnico V and Ceramic magnet - the Ceramic is distinctly tighter and more refined with a brighter top end, where the Alnico V is richer and bigger sounding, with more of what I describe as "purr".
