Following on from a ferocious start to the year with “Machete / 777”, Club Romantico steps into fine form with the labels head honchos first official solo release in almost 4 years. Florentino has been hinting at a new sound for a long while now & its clearest manifestation arrives on the 28th of April in the shape of ‘Xcuse Me / Loka”. 

Florentino brings some of the influences from his youth to the forefront here - with his father heavily involved in the Manchester acid house scene & his mother, with her own in-depth knowledge of different strands of latin dance music, also working in Manchesters club scene after first emigrating from Bogotá - the sounds of Madchester, an era gone by, echo equally alongside the sounds of early Nurican / Latin house here. 

The artist manifests these sounds in a somewhat freaked manner, mischievous & seductive in equal parts, ‘Xcuse Me’ channels runway energy with cries to push the decibel levels further & further only for the listener to be told “Tu no sabes lo que hay aqui” . On the flip, Loka wears its Latin house influence on its sleeve, running through what feels like a million vocal chops of old Nurican records - only to be destroyed through the lense of skeletal Dembow & Guaracha with a structure that feels somewhat like a club mega-mix. Both are drum workouts with a twist, confident in their execution & unruly in nature.

Fast and furious, the car meandered in a chaotic flurry through the suburbs with a wild roar. Onlookers would rush to watch as it flew past, screeching tyres and flashing lights illuminated the chase as it careered down hill in escape from that which chased it.

Despite their anything but obvious affiliations, the tracks that make up Cross Rhythm show the Parisian producer and DJ's ability to draw on his rich background as a producer, abstract his influences and convert them into unstoppable missiles ready to pulverize any dancefloor. 

Playing between darbouka tinged with Hard Drum, reinvented Afro House, technoid Trance, epic percussion and oppressive melodies, anyoneID delivers here two hybrid dancefloor bombs, without concessions and brutally unclassifiable.

Ene Ese is definitely one of the hidden gems of the Ecuadorian electronic music scene. He surfaced in 2023 having debuted earlier this year with a great EP for the @noctm label and now he's about to end the year on a high note with self-released 'Aflicciones', a deeply personal record produced while trapped working on a cruise ship somewhere in between Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Perhaps it was this feeling of struggle and isolation that steered Ene Ese's inspiration towards South African gqom music and resulted in a rough and aggressive atmosphere of the upcoming EP, a new style in the sound palette of this skillful producer.
