As usual it contains a bit of everything, simply all sorts of cute music I listened to from Jul2020 to Aug2021 (Yes it takes me one ducking year to put it together, but daddy I'm a MUBI critic with 42 followers - I'm entitled to do that QAQ).

I started the 'QRT' series simply because I thought it would be cute to put all of my favorite music I listened to during the lockdown in a tiny place. Never have I thought the series would last from Spring2020 to Autumn2021. As of 26 Aug 2021, Beijing life almost returns to the pre-pandemic, but I feel that I have been through a 20-months ongoing quarantine that won't end soon - I guess I would continue my 'QRT' series until I figure it out (hopefully soon).

We began toying around with the idea of a collaborative record in early 2021. Things took a bit longer than expected to unfold, which turned out to be a good thing for the project. We began by trading sketches, sending files back and forth and allowing things to unfold naturally over time.

From what I can observe, Matteo doesn't overthink things, and I often do. He worked very quickly, sending me a lot of textural elements and synth parts very early in the process - he had to wait a while to hear ANYTHING back from me (perhaps it was about a year... which also makes him extremely patient and forgiving, what a gem!) For a while, I thought the project might not actually happen because my life just got too busy, and I found I didn't have the mental space to get back into making ambient music. I'm glad we stuck with it because it's a beautiful record (I believe I'm allowed to say that because it's a collaboration)

The lion's share of the recording and finishing touches happened in early 2023 when it became clear what type of record we were making together. The way we each think about music is very different, which presents a positive challenge with unique results.
